Curtis Granderson smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and John Lackey tossed a
complete game as the Yardley Oaks pulled out a win over the Detroit 40's by a
score of 7 to 5 at Yankee Stadium.

Yardley had the game winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs. After an
out was recorded, Ryan Garko initiated the scoring spurt when he was hit by a
pitch. Carlos Guillen stepped into the batter's box and he bombed a two-run
dinger (his 17th of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for
Yardley and the 54,894 home town fans in attendance. Yardley had only 6 hits
for the night.

The victory went to Lackey(12-5) who went the distance allowing 5 runs. Gil
Meche(10-6) suffered the loss. He allowed 4 homeruns in 8 and 1/3 innings of
work.

Asdrubal Cabrera had 2 base hits and Wandy Rodriguez dominated striking out 11
Boston batters at Metrodome as the Minnesota SnowBirds beat the Boston
Stranglers by the count of 6 to 3.

Rodriguez(8-9) delivered a fine performance for Minnesota. He surrendered 6
hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings and gave up 2 homeruns. Minnesota
finished with 12 hits while Boston ended up with 7.

Bobby Jenks earned the save, his 21st. The losing pitcher was Javier
Vazquez(9-10). He was knocked around by Minnesota, allowing 8 hits and 5
walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Ron Gardenhire was asked about the performance of Rodriguez, 'He had his good
stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts
start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
