At Dolphins Stadium the Sunshine State Stalkers easily handled the Colorado
Scrub NL2 by the score of 8 to 4.
 
Justin Germano(5-2) gave a fine effort for Sunshine State.  He was reached for
6 hits and no walks in 8 innings.  Sunshine State had 11 hits for the night
while Colorado had 7.  
 
The losing pitcher was Matt Morris(4-22).  He got hit hard, allowing 9 hits
and 5 walks in 6 innings.

Jeff Francoeur hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the Philadelphia
Phranks beat the Atlanta Prohibitioners in 11 innings by a score of 5 to
3.
 
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Philadelphia came out on top
in the 11th inning.  Jayson Werth opened up the inning nicely when he drew a
walk.  Francoeur came to the plate and bombed a two-run dinger (his 20th of
the season).  Philadelphia out-hit Atlanta for the game, 12 hits to 6.  
 
The win went to Takashi Saito(4-3) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Jonathan
Broxton(2-4) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He gave up 2 runs and 2 hits
in 1 inning.

Garrett Atkins had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Binghamton Brawlers won in dramatic
fashion over the Washington Scrub NL1 by a score of 8 to 7 at Shea
Stadium.
 
Binghamton had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning as they
scored 5 runs on 4 base hits.  The highlight belonged to Nate Schierholtz who
thrilled the crowd when he doubled plating two runs.  Washington was out-hit
by Binghamton, 14 hits to 9.  
 
Aaron Heilman(1-1) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Brad
Hennessey(5-10) absorbed the loss in relief.  Bob Melvin was all smiles after
the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys
never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on.  What a
sweet win!'

Randy Johnson struck out 13 batters at Wrigley Field where the Wall St
Millionaires beat the Sea Isle SeaGulls 5 to 2.
 
Johnson(1-1) gave Wall St a solid outing.  He surrendered 7 hits and 2 walks
in 7 and 2/3 innings improving his ERA from 4.05 to 3.43.  Sea Isle could do
no damage in the 9th.  
 
Tony Pena recorded his 1st save.  Felix Hernandez(10-7) was given the loss.
When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Johnson offered, 'The
fan's really got into it.  It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout
totals up there in the stands.  Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of
course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'

The Detroit 40's enjoyed a blow-out, pounding the Minnesota SnowBirds pitchers
for 13 while Dan Haren(10-18), with relief help from Eric Gagne, surrendered
3 runs to Minnesota.
 
Minnesota never recovered after Detroit took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd
inning scoring one runner using 2 hits.  Jorge Posada banged out a single.
Garret Anderson stepped into the batter's box and he lashed a single.  Grady
Sizemore then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Edgar Renteria was up next and he
hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run.  Detroit kept the pressure on throughout
the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  
 
Chien-Ming Wang(14-12) suffered the loss.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 11 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.

Center fielder Nate McLouth had 4 hits and Chad Gaudin allowed Ken Macha to
rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Oakland Scrub AL2 defeated
the Pinehurst Pin Oaks in 10 innings by a score of 4 to 3 at McAfee
Coliseum.
 
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Oakland
pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  McLouth laced a one-base hit.  After
an out was recorded, Mike Sweeney came to the plate and stroked a base-hit
giving Oakland the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.  Oakland
managed 12 in their victory.  
 
The win went to Gaudin(9-20) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Matt
Guerrier(5-8) absorbed the loss in relief.  He pitched 3 and 1/3 innings
giving up 6 hits and no walks.

Adrian Gonzalez slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI and Javier Vazquez completed
the game without help from the bullpen at Yankee Stadium as the Boston
Stranglers beat the Yardley Oaks by the count of 5 to 3.
 
Boston had 3 runs cross the plate in the top of the 5th inning.  The highlight
belonged to Gonzalez who quieted the home crowd when he lofted a three-run
'big-fly' (his 22nd of the season).  Boston finished with 8 hits in the
victory.  
 
The win was credited to Vazquez(15-14) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
James Shields(12-12) absorbed the loss.  He struck out 12 batters in 9
innings despite losing the game.  
 
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Vazquez, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'

Jeff Suppan threw a complete game shutout at Rogers Centre as the Toronto
Scrub AL1 beat the Cherry Hill Maulers 9 to 0.
 
Suppan(8-21) simply dominated Cherry Hill.  He didn't allow much, just 5 hits
and 2 walks in 9 innings.  Toronto had 10 hits for the night.  
 
Scott Baker(11-5) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning and
surrendered 3 hits and 2 walks.
