WEB GEMS- Bot 1st: Bobby Crosby robbed Matt Holliday of a base hit.

Hanley Ramirez connected with a 'big fly' and had 5 RBI and Brandon Webb came
through with a solid 9 innings at Turner Field as the Atlanta Prohibitioners
embarrassed the Washington Scrub NL 1 by the lopsided score of 11 to 1.

It was a good day for Atlanta thanks to Ramirez. He doubled bringing in two
baserunners in the 3rd inning and smacked a three-run homer (his 3rd of the
season) in the 4th inning. Atlanta banged out 13 hits on the afternoon.

The victory was credited to Webb(2-0) who went the distance, allowing 1 run.
The losing pitcher was Braden Looper(1-1). He was hit hard and gave up 8
hits and 2 walks in 3 innings.

Javier Vazquez dominated striking out 11 Pinehurst batters at Camden Yards
where the Oakland Scrub AL 2 beat the Pinehurst PinOaks by the score of 8 to
2.

Vazquez(1-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He was stingy on the
mound, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings and surrendered 2
'round-trippers'. Oakland managed 9 hits in their victory.

Johan Santana(1-1) was the losing pitcher. He was touched for 7 hits and 2
walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. Vazquez was obviously very pleased with his
performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games
where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched
another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time
out!'

Ervin Santana mowed down 10 Minnesota batters and second baseman Ian Kinsler
hit 2 doubles as the Boston Stranglers defeated the Minnesota SnowBirds 3 to
0 at Fenway Park.

Santana(1-0) looked very much in control throughout the night. He gave up
just 4 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings improving his ERA from 3.60 to
1.59. Joakim Soria was great in relief and recorded his 2nd save.

Cliff Lee(1-1) was charged with the loss. He allowed 5 hits and 1 walk in 6
innings. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Santana offered,
'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout
totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of
course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'

Brad Hawpe smacked 2 homeruns as the Wall St Millionaires staged a dramatic
comeback over the Sea Isle Seagulls by a score of 9 to 8 at Wrigley
Field.

Wall St erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Carlos
Beltran was the sparkplug when he lined a one-base hit. Hawpe came to the
plate and popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 2nd of the season)
resulting in a mighty exciting win for Wall St and the 37,152 home town fans
in attendance. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5
times.

Matt Capps(1-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 1 inning. Chan Ho Park(0-1) was
the loser in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit without retiring a batter.

'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Hawpe said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
