Shortstop Hanley Ramirez cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the red-hot Atlanta
Prohibitioners defeated the Philadelphia Phranks by the score of 8 to 0 at
Turner Field.
 
Derek Lowe(1-0) put on a good performance.  He allowed only 5 hits and 3 walks
in 8 and 1/3 innings lowering his ERA from 6.75 to 3.31.  Atlanta out-hit
Philadelphia for the game, 13 hits to 5.  
 
Tim Lincecum(0-2) was the loser. He was touched for 10 hits and 3 walks in 6
and 2/3 innings.

At Camden Yards the Minnesota SnowBirds offense put up 4 runs on the
scoreboard in the 3rd inning and easily handled the Pinehurst PinOaks by the
score of 8 to 4.
 
The game started off with Minnesota taking the lead in the first when they
tallied 2 runs on 1 hit.  The big moment was provided by David Dejesus who
silenced the crowd when he doubled which was good for two runs.  Minnesota
rapped out 12 hits for the night.  
 
The win went to Josh Beckett(1-0) who allowed 4 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Robinson Tejeda gained credit for his 1st save.  Mike Mussina(0-1) was
charged with the loss.  He was unable to control the Minnesota offense and
allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.

He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 walks.

C.C. Sabathia dominated striking out 10 Yardley batters at US Cellular Field
as the Cherry Hill Maulers pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Yardley
Oaks by the count of 4 to 2.
 
Cherry Hill erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 2 base hits.  Aubrey Huff started the inning off right when he
doubled.  Carlos Guillen was next and he was hit by a pitch.  Raul Ibanez
struck out, unable to help the rally.  Vernon Wells came up and he lofted a
three-run bomb (his 1st of the season) giving Cherry Hill the win and sending
the home town fans into a frenzy.  Cherry Hill totaled 8 hits on the night.
 
The victory was credited to Brad Ziegler(1-0) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Joe Nathan(0-2) absorbed the loss in relief.  
 
'We just wouldn't give up,' Wells said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans -
they were with us the whole way.'

Brad Hawpe touched them all and had 3 RBI at Wrigley Field as the reeling
Binghamton Brawlers lost a heartbreaker to Wall St Millionaires by the score
of 4 to 2.
 
Wall St came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs.  After
two were out Albert Pujols was the sparkplug when he drew a walk.  Hawpe next
to the plate and he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his
3rd of the season) giving Wall St the victory and sending the 38,452
home-town fans home happy.  Wall St rapped out 10 hits for the night.
 
Taylor Buchholz(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Joe Nelson(1-1) was given the loss in relief.

In a close game the Sea Isle Seagulls got by the Colorado Scrub NL 2 in 10
innings by the score of 7 to 5.
 
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Sea Isle came out
on top in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Chipper Jones began
the rally when he doubled.  One out later, Adam Laroche stepped up to the
plate and he was walked intentionally.  J.J. Hardy then stroked a base-hit.
Hardy took second on the throw.  A balk was called.  Ryan Spilborghs stepped
into the box and drew a walk.  Sea Isle had 15 hits for the night while
Colorado had 12.  
 
Billy Wagner(1-1) got the win allowing 1 run in 2 and 1/3 innings. Buddy
Carlyle(0-1) took the loss in relief.  He surrendered 3 hits and 3 walks in 3
innings.

One run was the difference at Comerica Park as the Detroit 40's defeated the
Toronto Scrub AL 1 2 to 1.
 
Detroit won the game with a run in the 8th inning.  After two were out Justin
Morneau drew a walk.  Xavier Nady stepped up next and he doubled.  Jason Bay
then was walked intentionally.  Detroit had only 5 hits for the game.
 
Jonathan Papelbon(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Javier Lopez(0-1) was given the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 hit
and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

David Bush tossed a complete game at Dolphins Stadium as the Sunshine State
Stalkers pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Washington Scrub NL 1 by
the count of 4 to 3.
 
Sunshine State had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 3 runs utilizing 3
base hits.  Prince Fielder kicked off the action when he lined a base-hit.
Ryan Ludwick came next and he slapped a single.  Chris Dickerson then drew a
walk to load the bases.  Brian Giles was up next and he doubled making
Sunshine State victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.
Sunshine State totaled 7 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The winning pitcher was Bush(1-0) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Francisco
Cordero(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.  
 
Bush and Chris Iannetta were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the
great come from behind victory.  As Fredi Gonzalez noted, 'A win like this
one can do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the
fans, the players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen
runs!'
