Designated hitter Milton Bradley cracked a homer and Scott Baker came through
with a solid 9 innings as the Sunshine State Stalkers topped the Minnesota
SnowBirds by a score of 1 to 0 at Dolphins Stadium.
 
Sunshine State drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first
inning plating an isolated run using 2 hits.  That early scoring held up.
Sunshine State had only 6 hits for the game.  
 
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Baker(10-10). Jeremy Guthrie(12-10)
ended up with the loss.  'I thought it was my best performance in a long
time,' said Baker. 'I had good command early in the game. I had my control
and composure and everything went well.'

In a two run game the Yardley Oaks got by the Sea Isle Seagulls in 10 innings
by the score of 4 to 2.
 
The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Yardley came out on top in the 10th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Coco Crisp began the Yardley spurt when
he laced a base-hit.  Carlos Quentin stepped up next and he blasted a two-run
home run (his 28th of the season) making Yardley the victors to the delight
of the home town faithful.  Yardley finished with just 6 hits in the victory.
 
Matt Thornton(3-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Billy Wagner(2-1) in relief.  
 
With this win, Yardley has a 67-50 record.  They have been 6-4 lately.  With
this loss, Sea Isle has a 7-3 record of late, 73-41 overall.

phenomenal Cherry Hill Maulers beat the Atlanta Prohibitioners by the count
of 3 to 1.
 
In the 7th inning Cherry Hill scored 2 runs with the help of 3 hits.  The
critical plate appearance was by Vernon Wells who helped quiet the crowd when
he doubled which was good for two runs.  Overall Cherry Hill out-hit Atlanta
7 to 4.  
 
Roy Oswalt(7-8) got the win allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Francisco Rodriguez
recorded the save, his 36th.  Chris Volstad(4-3) took the loss.  He gave up 3
runs and 7 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.

performed flawlessly in relief in his 3 innings.  Wall St and Detroit each
finished the night with 11 hits.  
 
Matt Capps gained credit for his 17th save.  Damaso Marte(6-3) was charged
with the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

In a thrilling finish the Binghamton Brawlers won in dramatic fashion coming
back to beat the Boston Stranglers by the count of 5 to 4.
 
Binghamton came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning with 2
runs utilizing 2 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Gabe Kapler started
the rally when he laced a base-knock.  After another out, Jeff Kent stepped
up to the plate and he cracked a two-run shot (his 1st of the season)
resulting in an exciting win for Binghamton and a wild post-game celebration
by the home town fans.  For the game Binghamton out-hit Boston 13 to 6.
 
The victory went to Carlos Villanueva(3-1) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Jesse Carlson(1-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  By
surrending 1 run without retiring a batter his ERA jumped from 3.90 to 4.20.
 
Jerry Manuel was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought
game like that.  Our guys just weren't going to be denied.  And did you see
the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win tonight!'

16,349 fans were treated to a fine game at Camden Yards as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Philadelphia Phranks won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
 
Chad Billingsley(13-6) pitched a fine game.  He went 5 and 2/3 innings
allowing 5 hits and 3 walks.  Pinehurst had a chance to come back in the 9th
but they came up short.  
 
Billingsley got help from Brad Lidge who was credited with his 24th save.
Mark Buehrle(6-13) absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 3 runs and 8 hits in 9
innings.

Paul Konerko blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Rogers Centre where the
Toronto Scrub AL 1 beat the struggling Oakland Scrub AL 2 11 to 7.
 
Konerko enjoyed a fine evening at the plate.  He clubbed a three-run home run
in the 2nd inning and delivered a solo blast (his 21st of the season) in the
4th inning.  Oakland had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
The winning pitcher was Dana Eveland(5-8) who allowed 6 runs in 8 innings.
Greg Maddux(5-11) ended up with the loss.  He allowed 6 runs and 8 hits in 1
and 2/3 innings.

In an exciting finish the Washington Scrub NL 1 pulled out a win over the
dreadful Colorado Scrub NL 2 by a score of 5 to 4 at Nationals
Park.
 
Washington scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Bobby
Crosby drew a walk.  Jeff Mathis followed and he delivered a single.  Adam
Kennedy then drew a walk to load the bases.  After an out was recorded, Jim
Edmonds stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk making Washington the
victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.  Both teams finished the
game with 11 hits.  
 
The winning pitcher was Aquilino Lopez(1-1) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an
inning. Joe Blanton(6-13) ended up with the loss.  'Thankfully we got
ourselves a win', Lopez said.  'It's great to be back on the winning side of
things.'
