Damaso Marte(8-3) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Marte was helped out by Trevor Hoffman who recorded his 1st save. The loss was charged to Joakim Soria(4-4) in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 1 hit and no walks. Jim Leyland was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there? You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til its over.'
