Roy Oswalt racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and Raul Ibanez
ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Fenway Park where the Cherry Hill Maulers
beat the Boston Stranglers by the score of 7 to 1.
 
Ibanez provided the offensive punch.  He cleared the fences for a two-run home
run in the 2nd inning and delivered a solo blast (his 2nd of the season) in
the 8th inning.  Cherry Hill finished with 14 hits in the victory.  
 
The win went to Oswalt(1-0) who allowed 1 run in the game. The losing pitcher
was Shaun Marcum(0-1).  He allowed 4 homeruns in 6 innings of work.
 
Oswalt, when asked about his 10 strikeout performance noted, 'The important
thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our team?
But, on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'

37,924 fans were treated to a fine game at Wrigley Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Wall St Millionaires won by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
 
The deciding run was scored by Wall St in the bottom of the 8th.  After two
outs Carl Crawford smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 1st of the season).
Akinori Iwamura was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.  Philadelphia
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.  
 
Taylor Buchholz(1-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Brad
Lidge gained credit for his 1st save.  Russ Springer(0-1) absorbed the loss
in relief.  He surrendered 3 hits and no walks in 2 innings.

The Minnesota SnowBirds nipped the Detroit 40's 3 to 2 at Comerica Park in a
hard fought contest.
 
Detroit was unable to claim the lead after Minnesota went ahead in the 3rd
inning plating an isolated run.  Detroit made it exciting in the 9th, but
they were unable to push the needed runs across.  
 
The win went to Matt Garza(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 5 innings. Mariano
Rivera recorded his 1st save.  Zack Greinke(0-1) was hit with the loss.  He
was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 8 and 2/3
innings of work.  
 
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Garza, 'I was just
giving us a chance to win.'

At Dolphins Stadium the Sunshine State Stalkers easily handled the Sea Isle
Seagulls by the score of 8 to 4.
 
The Sunshine State fans enjoyed the offense provided by Milton Bradley.  He
doubled which was good for two runs in the 2nd inning, lifted one out of the
park for a two run home run (his 1st of the season) in the 4th inning and
doubled in the 8th inning.  Sunshine State banged out 13 hits on the night.
 
Hiroki Kuroda(1-0) allowed 4 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory. Ben
Sheets(0-1) was charged with the loss.  He allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 5
and 2/3 innings.
