Francisco Liriano(4-5) gave Boston a solid outing. He went 7 and 1/3 innings and surrended up 5 hits and 4 walks. Liriano recorded 9 strikeouts improving his ERA from 4.79 to 4.40. Boston had 10 hits for the afternoon. Andrew Bailey recorded the save, his 11th. Clayton Richard(3-13) was charged with the loss. He allowed 8 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings. Toronto had 4 runs cross the plate in the 2nd inning when they had 3 base hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Santana(9-6) and Toronto. That was all the run support Santana required. Toronto totaled 9 hits on the afternoon. Ted Lilly(8-6) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 7 runs and 9 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings. Guthrie(8-7) pitched a solid game. He was reached for 6 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings and surrendered 2 homeruns. Both teams ended up with 6 hits on the night. C.J. Wilson(5-10) ended up with the loss. Detroit knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 7 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. This win by Detroit continues their recent hot streak. In their last ten games, they have a record of 9-1. For the season, they are 48-41. With this loss, Yardley has a 3-7 record of late, 44-44 overall. Wood earned his pay with a solid performance for Sunshine State. He allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings dropping his ERA from 3.34 to 3.12. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. Heath Bell was credited with his 26th save. Sunshine State now has a record of 59-33. Wall St will hope that this loss is only a 'blip' on their recent 8-2 run - and not a start of a new trend. Washington won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on 2 base hits. Varitek began things off when he clubbed a solo home run. Ty Wigginton followed and he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'. After another out, Lyle Overbay struck out, unable to help the rally. Washington had 10 hits for the game and Cincinnati had 7. Miguel Batista(4-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. The loss was charged to Mitch Talbot(4-13). He was unable to control the Washington offense and allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.

The score was tied at 4 after nine. Finally, Colorado pulled the game out in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Rickie Weeks got things going when he cracked a solo homerun. Reynolds came to the plate and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown'. Alfonso Soriano then drew a walk. Hong-Chih Kuo then bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch. Jerry Hairston Jr came up to bat and laced a base-hit. Colorado managed 12 hits in their victory. The victory was credited to Francisco Rodriguez(3-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Kuo(2-2) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 walk. OAKLAND AT CHERRY HILL Roughriders..... 0 0 0 0 2 1 0 2 0 - 5 5 1 Maulers......... 3 0 0 1 0 2 0 0 - 6 6 0 Win:Buchholz(12-2) Loss:Maholm(4-15) Save:Soria(24th) Clay Buchholz took a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the smoking-hot Cherry Hill Maulers topped the floundering Oakland Roughriders by a score of 6 to 5 at US Cellular Field. Buchholz(12-2) pitched well for Cherry Hill in their victory. He went 7 innings and surrended up 2 hits and 3 walks. The right-handed Buchholz lost his no-hit bid when Pablo Sandoval doubled with one out in the 6th inning. Cherry Hill had only 6 hits for the afternoon. Joakim Soria preserved the game for Buchholz, recording his his 24th. Paul Maholm(4-15) was given the loss. Cherry Hill continued on their recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 9 games and counting. 'We're running on all cylinders now', said Ozzie Guillen. 'I probably shouldn't change a thing and let the guys continue to put up the wins.'
