Atlanta came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning with 3 runs on 4 hits. Rafael Furcal led off and he drew a walk. Furcal got a good lead and stole second. Kelly Johnson then lifted one out of the park for a two run home run. Hanley Ramirez followed and he cracked a solo homerun. Matt Holliday came up to bat and stroked a base-hit. Andre Ethier contributed to the rally and grounded into a double play. Colby Rasmus stepped up to the plate and he tripled. Yardley had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Takashi Saito(3-2) allowed 2 runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Rafael Soriano recorded his 23rd save. Phil Hughes(7-8) ended up with the loss. 'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Joe Girardi said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.' Aramis Ramirez led the offense for Colorado. He laced a single bringing in two baserunners in the 5th inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 6th inning. Colorado had 13 hits for the afternoon. The win went to Oswalt(21-4) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Trevor Cahill(12-12) was the loser. He was knocked around by Colorado, allowing 8 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings. Bob Geren was impressed with Oswalt and his 17 strikeouts. 'It's tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.' The game was won by Wall St when they scored a run in the 9th inning. Carlos Ruiz doubled. After an out was recorded, Ryan Zimmerman came up and he stroked a single making Wall St the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Wall St had a total of 9 hits for the game. The win was credited to Nelson Figueroa(4-3) who went 4 innings allowing no runs. Johan Santana(12-11) suffered the loss. He pitched 8 innings giving up 8 hits and 1 walk. For Wall St, it was just another victory in their mounting winning streak. Ubaldo Jimenez(18-6) was solid if not spectacular. He went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 1 walk and surrendered 2 'long-bombs'. Sunshine State banged out 12 hits on the night. Jimenez got relief help from Heath Bell who gained credit for his 41st save. Fausto Carmona(13-13) was the losing pitcher. He was touched for 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Sunshine State won for the 6th straight time.

Cincinnati jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they came up with 2 runs on 3 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Eric Hinske who brought a roar from the partisan Great American Bpk fans when he doubled plating two runs. Both teams ended up with 9 hits on the afternoon. Randy Wells(7-16) went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Ramon Ramirez recorded the save, his 3rd. Gavin Floyd(6-19) was given the loss. Despite the loss, he struckout 10 Cincinnati batters in 7 innings. When questioned, Dusty Baker remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt this good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!' Clayton Richard(4-19) delivered a fine performance for Baltimore. He was reached for 4 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. Baltimore ended up with 8 hits for the game while Oakland had 5. Francisco Cordero earned the save, his 10th. The losing pitcher was Jason Hammel(5-18). The Baltimore ballclub's record now stands at 35-108. With the loss, the Oakland ballclub's record is 40-103. Michael Young had a big evening at the plate. He tripled in the 3rd inning, delivered a base-hit in the 7th inning and lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 8th inning. Detroit rapped out 10 hits for the night. The victory went to Weaver(18-9) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Zack Greinke(12-11) absorbed the loss. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Weaver - except Cherry Hill. Ozzie Guillen lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!' Rolen provided much of the offense. He blasted a solo shot in the 2nd inning, ripped a single in the 4th inning, delivered a solo blast in the 5th inning and lined a one-base hit in the 7th inning. Overall Philadelphia out-hit Sea Isle 13 to 10. The victory went to Wandy Rodriguez(15-6) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 3 runs. Mike Pelfrey(11-10) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
