Brian Bannister pitched 8 strong innings at Angels Stadium as the Pinehurst
Pin Oaks beat the Cherry Hill Maulers 3 to 2.

Cherry Hill never recovered after Pinehurst took the lead in the 4th inning
scoring a single run. After an out was recorded, Brian Roberts drew a walk.
Roy Oswalt then bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch. Joey Gathright
then slapped a base-hit scoring the run. Cherry Hill threatened in the 9th
but their rally came up short.

Bannister(4-2) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.
Bannister got relief help from J.J. Putz who gained credit for his 28th save.
The loss was charged to Oswalt(13-4).

Mike Hargrove was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only
we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
