Jeff Francis was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the Philadelphia Phranks outscored the Toronto Scrub AL1 9
to 2.
 
Toronto was unable to recover after Philadelphia went ahead in the 6th inning
when they tallied 3 runs on 1 hit.  The highlight belonged to Brandon
Phillips who made the crowd come alive when he lost the ball over the fence
for three runs (his 23rd of the season).  Philadelphia had a total of 10 hits
for the game.  
 
The winning pitcher was Francis(13-1) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Nate
Robertson(3-17) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 4 runs and 5 hits in 5
innings.

The very potent Cherry Hill Maulers defeated the Washington Scrub NL1 by a
score of 6 to 3 at RFK STADIUM.
 
Washington was unable to claim the lead after Cherry Hill went ahead in the
top of the 3rd inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits.  The key at-bat was by Jim
Thome who quieted the crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the fence
(his 36th of the season).  Cherry Hill finished with 9 hits while Washington
ended up with 6.  
 
Carlos Zambrano(12-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings
and allowing 3 runs. Zambrano got help from Joe Nathan who earned his 40th
save.  The losing pitcher was Jorge Sosa(5-8).

Chris Duncan had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Oakland Scrub AL2 beat the
Binghamton Brawlers by a score of 8 to 5.
 
Oakland took the lead for keeps in the top of the 5th inning with 3 runs using
3 hits.  David Eckstein started the inning off right when he slapped a
one-base hit.  Nate McLouth stepped up to the plate and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Adam Laroche dug into the batters box next, but he struck
out.  Duncan stepped in and he delivered a single plating a run.  Duncan took
second on the throw.  Luke Scott came to the plate and smashed a two-run
homer (his 12th of the season).  Oakland banged out 12 on the afternoon.
 
Jamie Moyer(6-17) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Ian
Snell(8-14) ended up with the loss.  By surrending 8 runs in 5 and 2/3
innings his ERA jumped from 4.23 to 4.50.  
 
The Oakland ballclub's record now stands at 35-85.  With the loss Binghamton
now has a record of 63-60.

Julian Tavarez(5-8) gave Colorado a solid outing.  He allowed 4 hits and 4
walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.  Both teams totaled 11 on the afternoon.
 
Tavarez was helped out by Scott Proctor who recorded his 2nd save.  Miguel
Batista(14-7) was hit with the loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering 7
runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.  
 
The Colorado ballclub's record now stands at 35-85.  With the loss, Pinehurst
has a record of 5-5 lately, 74-46 overall.

In a close game it was the Sunshine State Stalkers 7, the Atlanta
Prohibitioners 5 at Turner Field.
 
Aaron Harang(12-10) pitched well enough to earn the win.  He went 7 innings
surrendering 10 hits and 2 walks.  Sunshine State rapped out 10 hits for the
afternoon.  
 
Jason Isringhausen gained credit for his 21st save.  The loss was charged to
Jon Garland(8-11).  'It felt really nice to get this win,' Harang said. 'I
kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out this
time.'

Wandy Rodriguez allowed Ron Gardenhire to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game as the Minnesota SnowBirds defeated the Yardley Oaks by the score of 6
to 1 at Metrodome.
 
Rodriguez(10-9) put on a good performance.  He surrendered only 8 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.68 to 4.46.  Minnesota rapped out
10 hits for the afternoon.  
 
The losing pitcher was John Lackey(13-6).  He allowed 3 homeruns in 8 innings
of work.

Third baseman Miguel Cabrera slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Boston
Stranglers beat the Detroit 40's by a score of 5 to 4.
 
Cabrera led the offense for Boston.  He cracked a two-run shot in the 1st
inning and cracked a solo homerun (his 24th of the season) in the 8th inning.
Kevin Gregg was perfect in relief and got the save, his 25th.  
 
The victory went to Jeremy Guthrie(10-11) who went 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing
3 runs. Jeremy Bonderman(8-8) was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered 5 runs
and 7 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.  
 
Boston now has a record of 60-64.  With the loss Detroit now has a record of

The losing pitcher was Oliver Perez(7-13).  He gave up 5 hits and 3 walks in 5
innings.
