Magglio Ordonez was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 20th of the season) in the 5th inning and doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond. in the 6th inning. Binghamton was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames. Colorado drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning when they tallied 3 runs on 3 hits. Colorado lit up the scoreboard in the 4th inning with 9 runs on 7 hits. Despite scoring in 5 separate innings, Washington could not get the win. Buchholz got the save, his 2nd. Bronson Arroyo(10-13) was tagged with the loss. He was unable to control the Colorado offense and allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
