Third baseman Miguel Cabrera slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI at Shea Stadium
as the Boston Stranglers beat the Binghamton Brawlers 5 to 3.
 
Boston tallied 2 runs in the 4th inning.  The critical plate appearance was by
Cabrera who deflated the crowd as he slapped a one-base hit plating two runs.
Binghamton had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
 
C.C. Sabathia(12-12) got the win allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Kevin
Gregg earned his 28th save.  Carlos Villanueva(10-4) took the loss.  He
served up 3 gopher balls in 6 innings.  
 
Terry Francona was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good
contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning
these tight ones! It was just our day - no doubt about it!'

The Sunshine State Stalkers defeated the Minnesota SnowBirds by a score of 6
to 3 at Metrodome.
 
Sunshine State took the lead for good in the top of the 4th inning with 2
runs.  Kevin Youkilis kicked off the action when he was hit by a pitch.
After an out was recorded, Adam Dunn stepped in and he drew a walk.  Hunter
Pence then drew a walk to load the bases.  Jeff Kent was up next and he drew
a walk scoring a run.  Russell Martin stepped into the box and hit a deep fly
scoring the final run of the inning.  Sunshine State managed only 5 on the
afternoon.  
 
Chris Young(17-4) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Jason
Isringhausen earned the save, his 24th.  Jake Westbrook(3-7) was hit with the
loss.  He surrendered 3 hits and 7 walks in 7 innings.

Joe Blanton completed the game without help from the bullpen and Mike Lowell
had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the spectacular Pinehurst Pin Oaks defeated the
Atlanta Prohibitioners 10 to 4 at Turner Field.
 
Blanton(13-9) earned his pay with a solid performance for Pinehurst.  He
allowed 10 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings and served up 4 'big flies'.
Pinehurst kept the scorekeepers busy in the 8th inning when they had 3 runs
on 3 hits.  Offensively, Pinehurst was a juggernaut.  They scored in 6
separate innings.  
 
The losing pitcher was Tom Glavine(3-16).  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 18 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

In a two run game the Yardley Oaks got by the Wall St Millionaires by the
score of 4 to 2.
 
Yardley erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 8th inning with 2
runs using 3 hits.  Curtis Granderson led off the inning for Yardley when he
banged out a single.  After an out was recorded, Joe Torre came to the plate
and called for a steal which was successful.  Mark Teixeira then ripped a
base-knock driving in a run.  Alex Rodriguez was up next and he doubled
scoring the final run of the inning.  Wall St was out-hit by Yardley, 12 hits
to 5.  
 
The winning pitcher was Scott Kazmir(14-5) who allowed 2 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Kazmir got relief help from Francisco Rodriguez who gained credit
for his 26th save.  The loss was charged to Troy Percival(0-1) in relief.
 
With this win, Yardley has a 72-55 record.  They have been 5-5 lately. With
the loss Wall St now has a record of 65-65.

Tim Lincecum(5-3) and Andy Pettitte(8-7) treated the Detroit fans to a fine
pitching duel at Comerica Park.  The Philadelphia Phranks eventually emerged
as victors over the Detroit 40's by the score of 2 to 0.
 
Lincecum pitched well for Philadelphia in their victory.  He was reached for 3
hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  Lincecum chalked up 8 strikeouts.
After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.  
 
Takashi Saito got the save, his 29th.

In a wild and wooly game at PNC Park, the Cherry Hill Maulers finally topped
the Sea Isle SeaGulls by the score of 13 to 10 in.
 
Sea Isle was unable to claim the lead after Cherry Hill went ahead in the top
of the 7th inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits.  The crucial at-bat was
provided by Corey Hart who quieted the home crowd when he lifted one out of
the park for a two run home run (his 16th of the season).  Joe Nathan was
perfect in relief and gained credit for his 42nd save.  
 
Jared Burton(5-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Taylor Tankersley(1-1) was hit with the loss in relief.  He gave up
2 runs and 2 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
