Barry Bonds blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the impressive Sea Isle
SeaGulls beat the Binghamton Brawlers by a score of 4 to 3.

Bonds was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park
in the 3rd inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 37th of the season)
in the 6th inning. Binghamton had a chance to come back in the 9th but they
came up short.

The win was credited to Ted Lilly(17-11) who went 6 innings allowing 1 run.
Lilly got help from Bobby Jenks who earned his 25th save. Jason
Bergmann(9-6) absorbed the loss. He pitched 7 innings allowing 5 hits and 5
walks.

In a good matchup it was the Cherry Hill Maulers 5, the lifeless Oakland Scrub
AL2 3 at US Cellular Field.

Cherry Hill had 3 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning when
they had 4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Placido Polanco started the
rally when he ripped a base-knock. Magglio Ordonez came next and he lifted
one out of the park for a two run home run (his 21st of the season). Jim
Thome then ripped a solo home run (his 43rd of the season). The early run
support proved sufficient for Roy Oswalt(17-6) and Cherry Hill. That was all
the run support Oswalt required. Neither team managed to score after the 3rd
inning.

Joe Nathan gained credit for his 46th save. The loss was charged to Chad
Gaudin(7-19). He allowed Cherry Hill 5 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.

Ryan Howard had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Pinehurst Pin Oaks staged a
dramatic comeback over the dreadful Washington Scrub NL1 by a score of 10 to
4 at RFK STADIUM.

The difference in the game was the offensive outburst by Pinehurst in the 9th
inning as they showed no mercy on Washington blasting them for 7 hits and
plating 8 runs. The key offensive moment was provided by A.J. Pierzynski who
deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he doubled clearing the bases.
For the game Pinehurst out-hit Washington 12 to 8.

The win went to Mike Timlin(4-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Brad
Hennessey(5-9) took the loss in relief. He allowed 7 runs and 6 hits in 1
inning.

'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Hennessey said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
