In a close game it was the Sea Isle SeaGulls 9, the Pinehurst Pin Oaks 7 in 10
innings at PNC Park.
 
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings.  Sea Isle was
victorious in the 10th inning.  Willie Harris led off and started the rally
when he doubled.  Damion Easley stepped into the batter's box and he popped a
two-run clout over the fence (his 6th of the season) making Sea Isle
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.  Sea Isle and Pinehurst
each finished the night with 14 hits.  
 
Heath Bell(4-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Matt
Guerrier(4-4) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 8 hits and 2
walks in 2 innings.

Rodriguez got relief help from Darren Oliver who gained credit for his 2nd
save.  John Maine(11-11) was given the loss.  He surrendered 8 hits and 6

Scott Kazmir(16-5) gave Yardley a solid outing.  He was reached for 6 hits and
2 walks in 8 innings.  Kazmir chalked up 9 strikeouts.  Yardley rapped out 9
hits for the night.  
 
Kazmir got help from Francisco Rodriguez who earned his 31st save.  Troy
Percival(0-2) was hit with the loss in relief.  Yardley scored big getting 3
runs off him in 2 innings.

10,698 fans were treated to a fine game at Dolphins Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Sunshine State Stalkers won by
the slimmest of margins, 10 to 9.
 
Sunshine State came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning with 3 runs
using 3 hits.  Akinori Iwamura started the inning off right when he doubled.
Jeff Kent came next and he was hit by a pitch.  Prince Fielder then doubled
scoring a run.  Franklin Gutierrez stepped in and he singled driving home
another two teammates.  Gutierrez took second on the throw.  Detroit made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
 
The winning pitcher was Derrick Turnbow(2-5) who allowed 1 run in 1 and 1/3
innings. Jason Isringhausen was credited with his 28th save.  Eric Gagne(1-3)
suffered the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 inning allowing 2 hits and 1
walk.
 
When questioned about the loss, Jim Leyland said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there tonight.  Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this
time.  Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the smiles.'

Tom Glavine allowed Bobby Cox to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as
the Atlanta Prohibitioners outscored the Cherry Hill Maulers 11 to
2.
 
Glavine(4-18) was in control of the game from the outset.  He gave up just 5
hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.  Atlanta banged out 18 on the night.  
 
C.C. Sabathia(13-14) was hit with the loss.  He was knocked around by Atlanta,
allowing 13 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.

Bobby Abreu had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Boston Stranglers defeated the Toronto
Scrub AL1 by a score of 10 to 2 at Rogers Centre.
 
Boston drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning as
they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits.  Boston finished with 18 hits while
Toronto ended up with 9.  
 
The victory was credited to Jon Lester(3-0) who went 5 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Mike Mussina(10-10) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed
Boston 7 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings of work.  
 
Boston continued their winnings ways improving their record to 81-70.  They
are 8-2 in their last ten games.  With the loss Toronto now has a record of
54-94, worst in the division.

Bill Hall went deep as the Colorado Scrub NL2 defeated the Philadelphia
Phranks in 13 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at Citizen's Bank Park.
 
The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Colorado won the game
in the 13th inning.  Hall lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 9th of the
season).  Colorado and Philadelphia each finished the night with 9 hits.
 
Luis Vizcaino(3-2) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Dan Wheeler
earned the save, his 17th.  Francisco Cordero(3-5) took the loss in relief.

Shortstop Brendan Ryan jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the
Oakland Scrub AL2 topped the Washington Scrub NL1 by a score of 6 to 2 at RFK
STADIUM.
 
In the 2nd inning Oakland scored 4 runs when they had 3 base hits. That early
run support was enough for Chad Gaudin(8-19) and Oakland.  Oakland had only 6
hits for the game.  
 
Tim Wakefield(7-17) took the loss.  He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 9
innings.
