Yorvit Torrealba jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the
Philadelphia Phranks outscored the Washington Scrub NL1 10 to
5.
 
Philadelphia took the lead for good in the 2nd inning when they scored 3 runs
on 4 hits.  The key at-bat was by Torrealba who elicited a roar from the
hometown fans when he cracked a two-run shot (his 6th of the season).
Philadelphia out-hit Washington for the game, 16 hits to 10.  
 
Chad Billingsley(10-4) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 7 innings.
Paul Byrd(5-20) was tagged with the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 2
innings.

In a close game it was the Cherry Hill Maulers 4, the Boston Stranglers 2 at
US Cellular Field.
 
C.C. Sabathia(15-14) pitched a solid game.  He went 8 innings surrendering 6
hits and no walks and allowed 2 gopher balls.  Boston had a chance to come
back in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
Joe Nathan recorded the save, his 50th.  Javier Vazquez(14-14) suffered the
loss.  He gave up 3 runs and 6 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Nick Swisher cracked a homer and had 6 RBI as the Minnesota SnowBirds
destroyed the dreadful Oakland Scrub AL2 by a score of 14 to 0 at McAfee
Coliseum.
 
Swisher enjoyed a fine day at the plate.  He hit a single knocking in a run in
the 6th inning, stroked a base-hit bringing in two baserunners in the 7th
inning and lofted a three-run bomb (his 8th of the season) in the 9th inning.
Minnesota finished with 18 hits while Oakland ended up with 5.  
 
Erik Bedard(10-14) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing
no runs. Santiago Casilla got the save, his 3rd.  Cha Seung Baek(1-3) took
the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3
innings.  
 
'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,' Swisher said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting
you out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'

Cody Ross had 3 base hits as the Atlanta Prohibitioners beat the Sunshine
State Stalkers by a score of 6 to 5.
 
In the bottom of the 6th inning Atlanta went on top for good scoring a single
run using 2 hits.  Sunshine State threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.  
 
The win went to Rafael Soriano(8-6) who allowed no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.
Aaron Cook(5-6) was given the loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 14 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

In a tight game it was the Pinehurst Pin Oaks 5, the Detroit 40's 3 at
Comerica Park.
 
Pinehurst took the lead off Andy Pettitte in the first inning when they
tallied 3 runs on 2 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Ryan
Howard who silenced the stadium when he smashed a two-run homer (his 47th of
the season).  Pinehurst totaled 9 on the night.  
 
The winning pitcher was Joe Blanton(15-9) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings.
J.J. Putz earned the save, his 38th.  Pettitte(9-10) was the loser.

18,474 fans were treated to a fine game at Coors Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Colorado Scrub NL2 won by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
 
Doug Davis(4-20) pitched well enough to earn the win.  He allowed 10 hits and
6 walks in 7 innings.  Sea Isle had a chance to come back in the 9th but they
came up short.  
 
Dan Wheeler earned his 18th save.  Micah Owings(5-5) was the losing pitcher.
Despite losing, he struckout 8 Colorado batters in 4 and 2/3 innings.

In a lop-sided win the Binghamton Brawlers put 5 runs on the scoreboard in the
9th inning and ripped the reeling Wall St Millionaires by a 8 to 2
count.
 
Binghamton wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning plating an
isolated run.  Binghamton and Wall St each finished the night with 8 hits.
 
John Maine(12-11) allowed no runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory. Joe
Beimel was credited with his 1st save.  Noah Lowry(8-12) was the loser.

Scott Kazmir struck out 16 batters as the Yardley Oaks defeated the slumping
Toronto Scrub AL1 2 to 1 at Rogers Centre.
 
Kazmir(18-5) was on top of his game.  He allowed only 2 hits and 5 walks in 8
innings.  Yardley ended up with 8 hits for the game while Toronto had 2.
 
Francisco Rodriguez earned the save, his 35th.  Kyle Lohse(8-15) was charged
with the loss.  'Everything felt great' Kazmir said. 'I had a good fastball,
I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'
