Washington came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning with 3
runs. Xavier Nady kicked off the action when he was hit by a pitch. After
an out was recorded, Ryan Church stepped in and he drew a walk. After
another out, Aubrey Huff came to the plate and belted a three-run homer (his
21st of the season). Although they lost, Sunshine State did out-hit
Washington 10 to 5.

Ryan Dempster(5-4) allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Jason Isringhausen(5-7) ended up with the loss in relief. Frank
Robinson was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office after
the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just sat
there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'

Matt Stairs went yard and had 4 RBI and Carlos Zambrano racked up an
impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the Cherry Hill Maulers beat the Detroit
40's by a score of 6 to 3.

Zambrano(15-9) earned his pay with a solid performance for Cherry Hill. He
went 8 innings allowing 5 hits and 4 walks. Overall Cherry Hill out-hit
Detroit 14 to 6.

Joe Nathan recorded the save, his 49th. Dan Haren(9-18) absorbed the loss.
He surrendered 8 hits and no walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Zambrano didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he
had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a
decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty
good, isn't it?'

Brad Penny allowed Bob Melvin to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at
Shea Stadium as the Binghamton Brawlers won in dramatic fashion coming back
to beat the lifeless Colorado Scrub NL2 by the count of 4 to 3.

Binghamton had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs. Derrek Lee started the inning off right when he reached on an error.
Norris Hopper was the next batter, but he struck out. Andruw Jones got his
chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Randy Winn came up
and he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 19th of the
season) giving Binghamton the victory as 14,183 happy fans celebrated wildly.
Binghamton rapped out 8 hits for the night.

Penny(8-15) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Dan Wheeler(4-9)
was charged with the loss in relief. He was the victim of a defensive lapse
and did not allow an earned run in the game.

'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' Bob Melvin offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a great
time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'
