Scott Kazmir pitched a 1 hit shutout and Torii Hunter left the yard as the
Boston Stranglers defeated the Oakland Scrub AL 2 by a score of 5 to 0 at
Fenway Park.

Kazmir(1-2) was virtually untouchable. He allowed only 1 hit and 3 walks in 9
innings lowering his ERA to 2.45. Boston banged out 11 hits on the
afternoon.

Javier Vazquez(1-5) was the losing pitcher. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 11 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Kazmir - except Oakland. Bob
Geren lamented, 'He just was 'on' this afternoon. He was keeping our guys
off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a
fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'

Milton Bradley smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Sunshine State Stalkers
defeated the Washington Scrub NL 1 by a score of 12 to 10 at Dolphins
Stadium.

Bradley was spectacular at the plate. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the
1st inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 2nd of the season) in
the 8th inning. Washington threatened in the 9th but Sunshine State was able
to put down the rally.

The victory was credited to Scott Olsen(1-1) who went 6 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 6 runs. Kevin Gregg was credited with his 1st save. The loss was
charged to Aquilino Lopez(0-1) in relief. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 6
hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.

'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Manny Acta 'but it's losing the close ones
that really hurt.'
