Scott Hairston went yard and had 3 RBI as the Washington Scrub NL 1 defeated
the Atlanta Prohibitioners 9 to 1 at Turner Field.
 
Nick Blackburn(2-2) had a fairly solid outing.  He was reached for 6 hits and
1 walk in 5 and 2/3 innings reducing his ERA from 3.41 to 3.13.  For the game
Washington out-hit Atlanta 15 to 9.  
 
Seth McClung earned the save, his 1st.  Randy Johnson(3-1) was the loser.  He
allowed Washington 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings of work.  'It's been a rough
ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said Manny Acta, 'Maybe this
will put us back on track.'

Second baseman Brian Roberts had 2 base hits at Camden Yards as the Pinehurst
PinOaks beat the floundering Oakland Scrub AL 2 2 to 1.
 
In the 4th inning Pinehurst scored 2 runs.  Roberts led off and keyed the
rally when he stroked a one-base hit.  Jacoby Ellsbury came next and he laid
down a sacrifice bunt.  One out later, Marcus Thames stepped up to the plate
and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 6th of the season).
The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score
again.  
 
The victory was credited to Mike Mussina(2-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Roy Corcoran earned his 2nd save.  The loss was charged to
Greg Smith(0-3).  He pitched 8 innings and surrendered just 3 hits and 2
walks.
 
With this win, Pinehurst has a 11-12 record.  They have been 6-4 lately.  Not
able to get much going in recent weeks, Oakland is 1-9 of late and now has an
overall record of 5-18, worst in the division.

Geovany Soto launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Daisuke Matsuzaka tossed a
fine 3 hitter as the Boston Stranglers defeated the Minnesota SnowBirds by
the score of 7 to 1 at Fenway Park.
 
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Soto.  He smacked a three-run homer in the 1st inning and ripped
a solo home run (his 3rd of the season) in the 7th inning.  Boston rapped out
9 hits for the night.  
 
Matsuzaka(1-1) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Jered
Weaver*(2-1) absorbed the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 8 innings.
 
'I've been working on a few things in my delivery, and I think I'm hitting a
good groove.' Matsuzaka said after the game.  'I'm ready to start another
game tomorrow!'

Jhonny Peralta hit one over the fence and had 4 RBI at US Cellular Field as
the Cherry Hill Maulers came back dramatically to top the slumping Toronto
Scrub AL 1 by the score of 6 to 5.
 
Cherry Hill came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
with 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Aramis Ramirez led off the inning for
Cherry Hill when he delivered a one-base hit.  Vernon Wells next to the plate
and he banged out a single.  Peralta then rifled a three-run blast (his 1st
of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for Cherry Hill and the
17,174 home town fans in attendance.  Cherry Hill finished with 9 hits in the
victory.  
 
The win went to Chad Bradford(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Jon Rauch(0-2) was hit with the loss in relief.  'Now that is what I call
fun! I just love baseball, especially games like this, of course,' Ozzie
Guillen offered.  'Everyone at the stadium had a great time - did you see the
fans go wild there at the end?!'

Shortstop Khalil Greene hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Colorado Scrub NL 2
defeated the Binghamton Brawlers by a score of 5 to 4 at Coors
Field.
 
Colorado won the game with a rally in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 2 hits.
After an out was recorded, Luke Scott began the Colorado spurt when he
lashed a single.  Nick Swisher was next and he was hit by a pitch.  After
another out, Cody Ransom came to the plate and drew a walk to load the bases.
Travis Metcalf came up and he drew a walk.  Greene stepped into the box and
doubled.  Luis Castillo was the next batter, but he struck out.  Binghamton
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
Eddie Guardado(2-3) was the winner allowing 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings. Manny
Corpas recorded his 1st save.  Chad Durbin(0-1) ended up with the loss in
relief.  
 
Jerry Manuel was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes.  Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'

At Comerica Park the Detroit 40's outscored the Yardley Oaks 9 to 6.
 
Detroit claimed the early lead in the first inning when they scored 3 runs on
3 hits.  The key at-bat was by Justin Morneau who made the home-town crowd a
happy bunch when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 3rd of the
season).  Detroit had 10 hits for the night.  
 
The victory was credited to Zack Greinke(1-2) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 6 runs. Kevin Slowey(1-2) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around,
surrendering 7 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.

The Sunshine State Stalkers defeated the Philadelphia Phranks by a score of 7
to 4 at Dolphins Stadium.
 
Sunshine State jumped on top of Philadelphia in the bottom of the 7th inning
scoring 3 runners on 4 hits.  Carlos Marmol pitched a perfect ninth and was
credited with his 7th save.  
 
Kevin Gregg(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Heath
Bell(0-1) took the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 run in 2 and 1/3 innings and
saw his ERA jump from 1.69 to 2.08.
