The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again. The victory was credited to Mike Mussina(2-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run. Roy Corcoran earned his 2nd save. The loss was charged to Greg Smith(0-3). He pitched 8 innings and surrendered just 3 hits and 2 walks. With this win, Pinehurst has a 11-12 record. They have been 6-4 lately. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, Oakland is 1-9 of late and now has an overall record of 5-18, worst in the division. Nick Swisher was next and he was hit by a pitch. After another out, Cody Ransom came to the plate and drew a walk to load the bases. Travis Metcalf came up and he drew a walk. Greene stepped into the box and doubled. Luis Castillo was the next batter, but he struck out. Binghamton had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Sunshine State jumped on top of Philadelphia in the bottom of the 7th inning scoring 3 runners on 4 hits. Carlos Marmol pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 7th save. Kevin Gregg(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Heath Bell(0-1) took the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run in 2 and 1/3 innings and saw his ERA jump from 1.69 to 2.08.
