score of 5 to 0.

Hudson(3-1) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Sunshine
State hitters. He allowed only 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings reducing his
ERA from 3.86 to 2.78. Atlanta had 11 hits for the night.

Jeff Bennett(2-2) was given the loss. 'Hudson gave us exactly what we needed
tonight,' Bobby Cox said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for
strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had
them chasing it.'

Left fielder Jason Bay connected with a 'big fly' at US Cellular Field where
the Detroit 40's beat the Cherry Hill Maulers by the score of 3 to
2.

Detroit brought 2 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning. The highlight
belonged to Justin Morneau who disappointed the partisan crowd when he lined
a one-base hit scoring two baserunners. Cherry Hill made it exciting in the
9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

The victory went to Zack Greinke(2-2) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Jonathan Papelbon gained credit for his 6th save. Roy Oswalt(1-3) was
charged with the loss. He gave up 7 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.

In a great finish the Colorado Scrub NL 2 came back in the top of the ninth
and held on to win over the Wall St Millionaires by a score of 6 to 4 at
Wrigley Field.

Colorado came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning when they
tallied 4 runs on 5 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Ryan
Shealy who helped quiet the crowd when he cracked a two-run shot (his 3rd of
the season). Colorado rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Ryan Speier(2-1) who allowed no runs in 2 and 2/3
innings. Matt Lindstrom recorded his 3rd save. The loss was charged to Matt
Capps(2-2) in relief. His ERA increased from 4.15 to 7.45 as he allowed 4
runs in 1 inning.

Clint Hurdle was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'

dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'

WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Bobby Crosby robbed Stephen Drew of a base hit.

One run was the difference at Citizen's Bank Park as the Philadelphia Phranks
defeated the Washington Scrub NL 1 3 to 2.

Philadelphia tallied 2 runs in the 2nd inning. The key offensive moment was
provided by Shane Victorino who made the Philadelphia fans a happy lot when
he smashed a two-run homer (his 3rd of the season). Washington threatened in
the 9th but their rally came up short.

The win went to Jair Jurrjens(3-0) who allowed 2 runs in 5 innings. Brad Lidge
earned the save, his 5th. Braden Looper(1-6) was given the loss. He gave up
5 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

'Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals' said Manny Acta after the game.
'We lost this game tonight because we didn't follow the instructions every
Little Leaguer hears every day.'
