Matt Joyce had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Greg Maddux tossed a complete game as
the Oakland Scrub AL 2 topped the Minnesota SnowBirds by a score of 7 to 2 at
McAfee Coliseum.

Minnesota lost it in the 2nd inning when Oakland did all their damage when
they exploded for 7 runs on 7 hits. That early scoring was all that
Maddux(2-3) needed. Oakland banged out 10 hits on the night.

Cliff Lee(4-3) was hit with the loss. 'After the stretch we have been through
lately, this victory is especially sweet' offered Bob Geren. Now, we just
have to make this the norm - not the exception!'

C.C. Sabathia threw a complete game shutout at US Cellular Field as the
seemingly unstoppable Cherry Hill Maulers beat the Boston Stranglers 8 to
0.

Sabathia(3-3) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Boston offense. He
was stingy on the mound, allowing just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings
lowering his ERA to 4.17. Both teams ended up with 6 hits on the night.

Shaun Marcum(3-3) was the loser. No one has been able to stop Cherry Hill
lately as they lengthened their winning streak to 8 games.

In a tight game it was the Yardley Oaks 4, the Pinehurst PinOaks 2 at Camden
Yards.

Pinehurst never recovered after Yardley took the lead in the 3rd inning
scoring 2 runners on 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Yunel Escobar who
deflated the crowd as he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 2nd
of the season). Yardley had 9 hits for the night while Pinehurst had 5.

Gavin Floyd(4-1) went 5 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Floyd got
relief help from Joe Nathan who gained credit for his 6th save. Jesse
Litsch(1-4) absorbed the loss.
