Joe Mauer stepped into the batter's box and he slapped a single. Nick Markakis then reached on an error. Troy Glaus was up next and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Carlos Pena got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. David Dejesus continued the rally and laced a base-knock. Dejesus took second on the throw. Both teams totaled 8 hits on the night. Hardy robbed Ryan Ludwick of a base hit. Jeff Bennett(2-1) and Ben Sheets(1-3) treated the Sea Isle fans to a fine pitching duel at PNC Park. The Sunshine State Stalkers eventually emerged as victors over the reeling Sea Isle Seagulls by the score of 1 to 0. Sea Isle surrendered what proved to be the only run of the contest when Sunshine State scored in the 3rd inning. That was all the runs Bennett needed. Sea Isle threatened in the 9th but Sunshine State was able to put down the rally. Kevin Gregg recorded his 4th save.
