Mike Pelfrey(2-4) was hit with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. 'He was really impressive today,' Pelfrey said of his counterpart. 'Our guys were just swinging at air.' Pinehurst went ahead for good in the bottom of the 7th inning scoring one runner utilizing 2 base hits. Pinehurst finished with 11 hits in the victory. The winning pitcher was Manny Delcarmen(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Delcarmen got help from Roy Corcoran who earned his 2nd save. The loss was charged to Scot Shields(1-2) in relief. For Pinehurst the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been struggling in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record. Yardley has a record of 16-13 after the loss.
