The Minnesota SnowBirds defeated the Oakland Scrub AL 2 by a score of 5 to 1
at McAfee Coliseum.
 
Oakland fell behind quickly as the Minnesota offense came through in the first
inning plating an isolated run using 2 hits.  After an out was recorded,
Jerry Hairston Jr doubled.  After another out, J.D. Drew stepped in and he
doubled.  Minnesota finished with 9 hits in the victory.  
 
Jeremy Guthrie(4-2) got the win allowing 1 run in 7 and 2/3 innings. Guthrie
was helped out by Jose Arredondo who recorded his 2nd save.  The loss was
charged to Doug Davis(1-2).

Garret Anderson had 4 hits and 2 RBI at US Cellular Field as the Boston
Stranglers beat the Cherry Hill Maulers by the count of 7 to 6.
 
J.P. Howell(1-1) pitched in relief and was credited with the victory.  He went
2 and 2/3 innings allowing no hits and 3 walks improving his ERA from 3.04 to
2.73.  Boston had 12 hits for the game and Cherry Hill had 9.  
 
Joakim Soria earned the save, his 9th.  Grant Balfour(1-1) ended up with the
loss in relief.  He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned
run in his 2 innings of work.

Matt Holliday went deep and had 3 RBI and Ricky Nolasco reeled off a total of
14 strikeouts as the Atlanta Prohibitioners defeated the slumping Binghamton
Brawlers by a score of 8 to 1 at Shea Stadium.
 
Nolasco(5-1) was tremendous on the mound for Atlanta.  He gave up just 4 hits
and 2 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 1.57 to 1.31.  Atlanta rapped
out 12 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Mike Pelfrey(2-4) was hit with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and
3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.  'He was really impressive today,' Pelfrey said
of his counterpart.  'Our guys were just swinging at air.'

McLouth had a good day at the plate.  He smacked a single in the 1st inning,
bombed a two-run dinger in the 7th inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the
park (his 12th of the season) in the 9th inning.  Wall St out-hit Washington
for the game, 17 hits to 7.  
 
John Danks(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Matt Capps gained credit for his 3rd save.  Braden Looper(2-2) absorbed the
loss.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 6 and 1/3 innings of work.

Bronson Arroyo allowed Cito Gaston to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game at Comerica Park where the Toronto Scrub AL 1 beat the Detroit 40's by
the score of 6 to 3.
 
Toronto wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 5 runners
on 2 hits.  That early scoring held up.  After the 2nd inning, neither team
was able to score.  
 
Arroyo(2-3) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. A.J. Burnett(4-3) was
hit with the loss.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up 2 hits and 3
walks.

First baseman Kevin Youkilis ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Sunshine
State Stalkers topped the ice-cold Sea Isle Seagulls by a score of 10 to 5 at
PNC Park.
 
Youkilis enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He smashed a two-run homer in the
2nd inning and delivered a solo blast (his 5th of the season) in the 9th
inning.  Sunshine State had 14 hits overall, while Sea Isle had 7.  
 
The victory was credited to Carlos Zambrano(3-2) who went 5 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Zambrano got help from Kevin Gregg who earned his 5th save.
The losing pitcher was John Lannan(3-2).

Tim Lincecum allowed only 3 hits resulting in a big goose egg on the
scoreboard for Colorado as the Philadelphia Phranks defeated the Colorado
Scrub NL 2 9 to 0 at Citizen's Bank Park.
 
Lincecum(5-1) escaped virtually unscathed against the Colorado hitters.  He
surrendered only 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.  Lincecum mowed down 14
Colorado batters seeing his ERA drop from 2.89 to 2.43.  Philadelphia banged
out 11 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Zach Duke(2-5) ended up with the loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering 8
runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.  Lincecum was pleased with his performance.  He
noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches.  Just as important, my location was
right on.  The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me.
Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.'

One run was the difference at Camden Yards as the Pinehurst PinOaks defeated
the Yardley Oaks 4 to 3.
 
Pinehurst went ahead for good in the bottom of the 7th inning scoring one
runner utilizing 2 base hits.  Pinehurst finished with 11 hits in the
victory.  
 
The winning pitcher was Manny Delcarmen(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. Delcarmen got help from Roy Corcoran who earned his 2nd save.  The
loss was charged to Scot Shields(1-2) in relief.  
 
For Pinehurst the victory was a welcome one, indeed.  They had been struggling
in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record.  Yardley has a
record of 16-13 after the loss.
