The score was tied at 2 after nine. Detroit came out on top in the 19th inning. Grady Sizemore drew a walk. Two outs later Morneau came to the plate and ripped a solo home run (his 13th of the season) giving Detroit the victory and sending the 39,351 home-town fans home happy. Detroit finished with 19 hits while Philadelphia ended up with 16. A.J. Burnett(7-5) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Heath Bell(1-1) was given the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 2 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. Colorado had the game winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 4 base hits. Justin Upton kicked off the action when he smacked a single. John Buck stepped into the batter's box and he grounded into a double play. Kosuke Fukudome then drew a walk. Jose Bautista followed and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 3rd of the season). Jose Lopez stepped into the box and stroked a base-hit. Manny Parra then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. Thome stepped into the batter's box and he doubled. Edwin Encarnacion then drew a walk. Parra then threw a high and inside pitch that got by the catcher; it was ruled a passed ball. Luke Scott came to the plate and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Toronto made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Jamey Wright(2-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and allowing no runs. Blackburn got help from Francisco Cordero who was credited with his 10th save. Doug Davis(4-3) took the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 8 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
