Alex Rios had 4 hits as the Boston Stranglers beat the Minnesota SnowBirds by
a score of 2 to 1.
 
Boston came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning.  Minnesota
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.  
 
The victory was credited to Ervin Santana(7-5) who went 7 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Jesse Carlson recorded the save, his 2nd.  Jeremy
Guthrie(6-7) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 9 hits and 3 walks in 8
innings.  
 
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Ron
Gardenhire said after the game.  'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say
they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'

topped the struggling Oakland Scrub AL 2 by the slimmest of margins, 5 to
4.
 
Dan Haren(8-5) earned his pay with a solid performance for Detroit.  He
surrendered 9 hits and no walks in 8 innings.  The pitchers took over after
the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again.  
 
Haren got help from Jonathan Papelbon who earned his 17th save.  The losing
pitcher was Javier Vazquez(1-8).  He pitched 7 innings allowing 8 hits and 1
walk.

Garrett Atkins jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI at Shea Stadium as
the Binghamton Brawlers beat the Philadelphia Phranks in 11 innings 5 to
4.
 
The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings.  Binghamton won the game in the
11th inning.  Jayson Werth drew a walk.  Gabe Kapler stepped into the
batter's box and he laced a base-hit.  Carlos Ruiz then doubled resulting in
an exciting win for Binghamton and a raucous post-game celebration by the
home town fans.  Binghamton had 11 hits for the game and Philadelphia had 7.
 
Chad Qualls(1-1) allowed 2 runs in 3 innings, and picked up the victory.
Hong-Chih Kuo(2-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.  His ERA ballooned from
0.71 to 0.99 as he allowed 1 run in 2 innings.

The Sea Isle Seagulls nipped the struggling Toronto Scrub AL 1 10 to 9 at
Rogers Centre in a hard fought contest.
 
Sea Isle set the tone of the game in the first inning plating an isolated run
on 3 hits.  Toronto threatened in the 9th but Sea Isle was able to put down
the rally.  
 
The win was credited to Paul Maholm(10-1) who went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing
3 runs. Maholm was helped out by Kerry Wood who recorded his 21st save.  Jon
Garland(1-8) took the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits and 3
walks in 6 innings.

Carlos Beltran left the yard and had 2 RBI as the Wall St Millionaires
defeated the hapless Colorado Scrub NL 2 by the score of 8 to 4 at Wrigley
Field.
 
Todd Wellemeyer(6-3) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win.  He
surrendered 8 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings and was touched for 2
homeruns.  Wall St finished with 12 hits while Colorado ended up with 9.
 
Wellemeyer got help from Taylor Buchholz who earned his 6th save.  Zach
Duke(3-10) was the losing pitcher.  The Wall St ballclub's record now stands
at 40-25.  Not able to get much going in recent weeks, Colorado is 2-8 of
late and now has an overall record of 17-51, worst in the division.

Casey Blake blasted a homerun and had 4 RBI and Ricky Nolasco went the
distance as the Atlanta Prohibitioners defeated the Sunshine State Stalkers
by a score of 10 to 5 at Turner Field.
 
The Atlanta fans enjoyed the offense provided by Blake.  He clubbed a
three-run home run (his 19th of the season) in the 3rd inning, slapped a
base-hit which plated a run in the 4th inning and lined a single in the 6th
inning.  Atlanta totaled 14 hits on the night.  
 
The victory went to Nolasco(10-4) who went the distance allowing 5 runs.
Carlos Zambrano(6-4) was the loser.  He got hit hard, allowing 5 hits and 3
walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.  
 
With this win, Atlanta has a division leading 42-30 record.  They have been
5-5 lately.  Sunshine State has a record of 34-34 after the loss.
