Adrian Gonzalez slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Boston Stranglers
topped the ice-cold Toronto Scrub AL 1 by a score of 11 to 6 at Fenway
Park.

Gonzalez had a great day at the plate. He lashed a single in the 1st inning,
cracked a two-run shot in the 3rd inning, laced a base-knock scoring a run in
the 4th inning and hit a bases-empty home run (his 24th of the season) in the
8th inning. Justin Masterson was perfect in relief and gained credit for his
2nd save.

The winning pitcher was Dan Wheeler(1-0) who allowed no runs in 3 innings.
Bronson Arroyo(2-10) took the loss. He allowed Boston 6 runs in 2 and 1/3
innings of work.

'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park today,' Gonzalez said. 'I'm
glad I decided to play!'

In a close game the Oakland Scrub AL 2 got by the Binghamton Brawlers by the
score of 4 to 2.

Binghamton surrendered all of the runs Oakland needed in the 6th inning when
they tallied 4 runs on 6 hits. The big moment was provided by Yuniesky
Betancourt who brought the crowd to their feet when he tripled plating two
runs. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

The victory was credited to Brian Wilson(2-4) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Wilson got help from George Sherrill who earned his 8th
save. Jorge Campillo(3-9) was given the loss in relief.

For Oakland the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been struggling
in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record. With the loss, the
Binghamton ballclub's record is 24-43.

At Coors Field, the Colorado fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Joe
Blanton(5-4) finally bested his Atlanta opposite, Randy Johnson(5-4), by the
score of 2 to 1.

Blanton had a strong outing. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 7 hits
and no walks in 8 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA to 3.47. Atlanta had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

Manny Corpas gained credit for his 3rd save. The losing pitcher was Johnson.
He pitched 8 innings and surrendered just 4 hits and 1 walk.

Bobby Cox was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press
box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
