Colorado had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 3 hits. Jeff Francoeur led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. John Buck was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Marco Scutaro then laced a base-hit. Jose Lopez followed and he lined a one-base hit. Jim Thome stepped into the box and smacked a single. Colorado lit up the scoreboard in the 4th inning with 6 runs on 6 hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was still not enough for Washington to come away with the victory. Jamey Wright(3-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Francisco Cordero(4-4) suffered the loss in relief. By giving up 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning his ERA increased from 4.22 to 4.57. Clint Hurdle was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Manny Acta, feels right now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of these!'
