Third baseman Jerry Hairston Jr touched them all and Jered Weaver* dominated
striking out 14 Oakland batters as the Minnesota SnowBirds outscored the
floundering Oakland Scrub AL 2 8 to 0.

Weaver*(6-5) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Oakland batters. He allowed just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings improving
his ERA from 4.22 to 3.82. Minnesota managed 13 hits in their victory.

Greg Smith(5-8) took the loss. He allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.
Ron Gardenhire was asked about the performance of Weaver*, 'He had his good
stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts
start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.'

Luke Scott slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI at Coors Field as the Colorado
Scrub NL 2 came back dramatically to top the Washington Scrub NL 1 by the
score of 12 to 11.

Colorado had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 3 hits. Jeff
Francoeur led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. John Buck was
next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Marco Scutaro then laced a
base-hit. Jose Lopez followed and he lined a one-base hit. Jim Thome
stepped into the box and smacked a single. Colorado lit up the scoreboard in
the 4th inning with 6 runs on 6 hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame,
scoring in 5 different innings was still not enough for Washington to come
away with the victory.

Jamey Wright(3-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3
innings. Francisco Cordero(4-4) suffered the loss in relief. By giving up 2
runs in 2/3 of an inning his ERA increased from 4.22 to 4.57.

Clint Hurdle was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked
about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered,
'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Manny Acta, feels right
now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short
end of one of these!'
