Ramon Vazquez homered and had 4 RBI at Fenway Park as the Boston Stranglers
staged a comeback win over the Pinehurst PinOaks by the count of 6 to
5.

Boston won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs
using 4 hits. Alex Rios kicked off the action when he doubled. After an out
was recorded, Vazquez came up and he delivered a single. One out later,
Bobby Abreu came to the plate and lashed a single. Ian Kinsler was up next
and he delivered a one-base hit. Boston had 11 hits for the afternoon while
Pinehurst had 6.

The victory went to Dan Wheeler(2-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Roy Corcoran(1-3) suffered the loss in relief. Terry Francona was in
great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked about his feelings
after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you this
much - I know how my counterpart, Dave Trembley, feels right now - and it's
not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of
these!'

Chipper Jones had 2 base hits at Coors Field where the Sea Isle Seagulls beat
the woeful Colorado Scrub NL 2 by the score of 4 to 2.

Sea Isle had 3 runs cross the plate in the top of the 3rd inning when they had
4 base hits. Johnny Damon was the sparkplug when he took matters into his
own hands and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 8th of the season). Two
outs later Jones came to the plate and hit a single. Josh Hamilton then
doubled. J.J. Hardy stepped in and he lined a base-hit. Adam Laroche was
the next batter, but he struck out. The early run support proved sufficient
for Ben Sheets(5-4) and Sea Isle. That was all the run support Sheets
required. Kerry Wood was perfect in relief and got the save, his 26th.

Tim Wakefield(1-8) was the loser. With this win, Sea Isle has a 49-29 record.
They have been 6-4 lately. With the loss, Colorado has a record of 3-7
lately, 23-61, worst in the division overall.
