Marcum(12-10) looked very much in control throughout the day. He gave up just 5 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings. Sunshine State threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Marcum got relief help from Jesse Carlson who gained credit for his 3rd save. Carlos Zambrano(11-5) took the loss. He allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. Fredi Gonzalez was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.' Buchholz was perfect in relief and gained credit for his 10th save. James Shields(14-4) allowed 6 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. C.C. Sabathia(15-6) suffered the loss. Quentin provided much of the offense. He singled in the 1st inning, emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 26th of the season) in the 2nd inning and laced a single in the 8th inning. Yardley banged out 11 hits on the afternoon. Floyd(13-4) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Kyle Lohse(4-14) suffered the loss. By giving up 6 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings his ERA increased from 5.70 to 6.08.
