Eddie Guardado pitched 2 and two third innings for the victory at Coors Field
as the Colorado Scrub NL 2 beat the Boston Stranglers 6 to 5.
 
Guardado(1-0) was dominant in relief.  No one got on base in his 2 and 2/3
innings.  Matt Lindstrom was perfect in relief and gained credit for his 3rd
save.  
 
Dan Wheeler(2-2) was charged with the loss in relief.  With this win, Colorado
has a 37-110 record.  They have been 3-7 lately.  With the loss Boston now
has a record of 84-61.

Catcher Mike Napoli rocketed 2 homeruns at US Cellular Field where the Yardley
Oaks beat the Cherry Hill Maulers in 11 innings 4 to 3.
 
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings.  Yardley came out on
top in the 11th inning.  Coco Crisp drew a walk.  Crisp took off for second
and slid in with a stolen base.  After an out was recorded, Napoli stepped up
to the plate and he drew a walk.  Joe Inglett stepped in and he lined a
base-hit.  Mark Grudzielanek followed, but he was set down on strikes.
Cherry Hill was out-hit by Yardley, 10 hits to 7.  
 
The win was credited to Joe Nathan(3-3) who went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no
runs. Nathan got relief help from Scot Shields who gained credit for his 1st
save.  Francisco Rodriguez(6-7) was tagged with the loss in relief.

Adam Laroche blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Kerry Wood closed it out for
Sea Isle as the Sea Isle Seagulls beat the Oakland Scrub AL 2 by a score of 9
to 8.
 
The game was decided in the top of the 9th inning.  Vladimir Guerrero doubled.
Chipper Jones came next and he laced a base-knock.  Josh Hamilton then
banged out a single.  Billy Wagner(5-2) got help from Wood who pitched great
and earned his 42nd save.  
 
Saul Rivera(1-6) was the loser in relief.  'It's just about getting in a good
hitting position and just going out there and being prepared,' Laroche said.
'You try to hit in your own capacity and not do too much. I just try to have
a good approach, day after day, game by game, and pitch by pitch.'

Edinson Volquez blanked Binghamton allowing just 2 hits as the Wall St
Millionaires topped the Binghamton Brawlers by a score of 6 to 0 at Shea
Stadium.
 
Volquez(14-10) was on top of his game.  He allowed just 2 hits and 2 walks in
9 innings.  Wall St banged out 11 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Carlos Villanueva(3-5) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering
6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.

In a close game it was the Pinehurst PinOaks 7, the Washington Scrub NL 1 5 at
Camden Yards.
 
Pinehurst had the winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 2 runs
using 2 hits.  Ryan Howard started the attack as he hit a bases-empty home
run (his 42nd of the season).  Derek Jeter stepped into the batter's box and
he was hit by a pitch.  Lyle Overbay then drew a walk.  A.J. Pierzynski
stepped in and he slapped a one-base hit to load the bases.  Jacoby Ellsbury
came to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly.  Pinehurst had 11 hits for the
afternoon while Washington had 5.  
 
Jim Johnson(1-0) went 3 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Manny Delcarmen was credited with his 5th save.  Tim Redding(4-16) was given
the loss.  He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 7 innings of work.

Lastings Milledge had 2 base hits as the Toronto Scrub AL 1 outscored the
Philadelphia Phranks in 11 innings 5 to 4.
 
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  Toronto won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning.  Milledge reached on an error.  Jed
Lowrie stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk.  Jack Cust got his chance
to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.  Eric Hinske came up and
he drew a walk to load the bases.  Russ Springer then was wild with a pitch.
Geoff Blum continued the rally and was walked intentionally to load the
bases.  Both teams totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Jon Rauch(7-8) went 3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. The losing pitcher
was Chad Billingsley(15-8) in relief.  He gave up 1 hit and 4 walks in 3 and
2/3 innings.  
 
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Cito Gaston sighed.  'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'

Scott Olsen had a strong outing as the incredible Sunshine State Stalkers beat
the Atlanta Prohibitioners by a score of 4 to 0.
 
Olsen(7-2) was virtually untouchable.  He gave up just 1 hit and 2 walks in 7
innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.66 to 4.22.  Sunshine State finished with
5 hits while Atlanta ended up with 2.  
 
Chris Volstad(7-4) was the loser. He gave up 4 runs and 5 hits in 8 innings.

Placido Polanco had 3 base hits at Metrodome where the very talented Minnesota
SnowBirds beat the Detroit 40's 4 to 1.
 
Minnesota came up with all the runs they needed in the 4th inning scoring 4
runners on 4 hits.  The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither
team was able to score again.  
 
The victory was credited to Cliff Lee(16-7) who went 7 innings, allowing 1
run. Lee got help from Bobby Jenks who earned his 1st save.  Aaron
Cook(11-12) absorbed the loss.  He allowed Minnesota 4 runs in 3 and 2/3
innings of work.  
 
The winning ways continue for Minnesota.  They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days.  With the loss, the Detroit ballclub's record is 84-61.
