Daisuke Matsuzaka completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Boston Stranglers defeated the hopeless Colorado Scrub NL 2 by the score of 7
to 1 at Coors Field.
 
Matsuzaka(11-6) was very good in the win.  He allowed only 4 hits and 3 walks
in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 4.32.  Boston had 11 hits for the afternoon.
 
Cha Seung Baek(2-13) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 5 runs and 7 hits in
6 and 2/3 innings.

Aubrey Huff cracked a homer and had 4 RBI as the very potent Cherry Hill
Maulers beat the Yardley Oaks in 10 innings by a score of 7 to 6.
 
The score was tied at 5 after nine.  Cherry Hill ended up winning it in the
10th inning.  Miguel Cabrera started the inning off right when he drew a
walk.  After an out was recorded, Huff stepped in and he cracked a two-run
shot (his 29th of the season) making Cherry Hill the victors to the delight
of the home town faithful.  Cherry Hill had only 6 hits for the night.
 
Francisco Rodriguez(6-6) went 2 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Joe
Nathan(2-3) was the loser in relief.  He allowed 1 hit and no walks in 1/3 of
an inning.

by the score of 7 to 3.
 
Greg Maddux(7-13) had a solid outing for Oakland. He allowed 8 hits and 3
walks in 7 innings.  Oakland had a total of 12 hits for the game.  
 
Clayton Kershaw(4-4) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 6 runs in 3 and 2/3

James Shields was on top of his game, blanking Binghamton on just 2 hits at
Shea Stadium as the phenomenal Wall St Millionaires beat the Binghamton
Brawlers 1 to 0.
 
Shields(19-4) escaped virtually unscathed against the Binghamton hitters.  He
allowed just 2 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings.  Shields whiffed an impressive
total of 10 Binghamton batters improving his ERA from 4.77 to 4.55.  Wall St
rapped out 8 hits for the night.  
 
The loss was charged to Kyle Lohse(6-18).  Shields, when asked about his 10
strikeout performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20
and we lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we
won it feels great!'

13,153 fans watched an exciting game at Camden Yards.  The Washington Scrub NL
1 topped the lifeless Pinehurst PinOaks by the slimmest of margins, 5 to
4.
 
Braden Looper(8-17) earned his pay with a solid performance for Washington.
He went 8 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 walks and allowed 2 gopher balls.
Pinehurst threatened in the 9th but Washington was able to put down the
rally.  
 
Looper got relief help from Francisco Cordero who gained credit for his 19th
save.  John Lackey(7-12) absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 5 runs and 5 hits
in 6 and 2/3 innings.

First baseman Prince Fielder had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Josh Johnson had a
strong outing at Citizen's Bank Park as the seemingly unstoppable
Philadelphia Phranks, running on all cylinders, ripped the slumping Toronto
Scrub AL 1 by a large 12 to 1 margin.
 
Philadelphia took the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th inning as they
scored 4 runs on 3 base hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Fielder who
elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he tripled emptying the bases.
Philadelphia rapped out 11 hits for the night.  
 
Johnson(4-2) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. The losing
pitcher was Bronson Arroyo(6-21).  Charlie Manual was very impressed with his
pitcher, Johnson, 'He had unusually good pitch placement tonight.  It was
almost unfair - but a beautiful game to watch from where I sat'

At Dolphins Stadium the Sunshine State Stalkers outscored the Atlanta
Prohibitioners 7 to 4.
 
David Bush(16-7) delivered a fine performance for Sunshine State.  He
surrendered 5 hits and no walks in 7 innings.  Sunshine State finished with
12 hits while Atlanta ended up with 8.  
 
Bush was helped out by John Grabow who recorded his 3rd save.  Randy
Johnson(14-7) was the losing pitcher.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11
hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.

The phenomenal Minnesota SnowBirds defeated the Detroit 40's by a score of 5
to 2 at Metrodome.
 
Minnesota wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring one
runner.  Minnesota banged out 7 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The victory was credited to Matt Garza(12-15) who went 6 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Garza got help from Rafael Perez who earned his 2nd save.
Gil Meche(11-12) suffered the loss.  He pitched 6 innings giving up 6 hits
and 7 walks.
