Mike Aviles had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Boston Stranglers defeated the
hopeless Oakland Scrub AL 2 by the score of 7 to 4 at McAfee
Coliseum.
 
Boston erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on
3 hits.  After an out was recorded, Alex Rios initiated the scoring spurt
when he smacked a single.  One out later, Bobby Abreu stepped up to the plate
and he was walked intentionally.  Delmon Young then slapped a one-base hit,
and an error was also committed.  Aviles followed and he laced a base-hit.
Jason Bartlett came to the plate and drew a walk.  Boston had 14 hits
overall, while Oakland had 5.  
 
The win went to Dan Wheeler(4-3) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Saul Rivera(1-7) was given the loss in relief.  He surrendered 3 runs and 5
hits in 3 innings.

Mark Derosa smashed 2 homeruns at Yankee Stadium where the dominant Cherry
Hill Maulers beat the Yardley Oaks in 12 innings 7 to 5.
 
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings.  Cherry Hill ended up winning
it in the 12th inning.  Ben Zobrist opened up the scoring as he delivered a
solo blast (his 8th of the season).  After an out was recorded, Derosa
stepped up to the plate and he smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 19th
of the season).  After another out, Chone Figgins stepped in and he was hit
by a pitch.  Figgins was running on the next pitch and he stole second.
Manny Ramirez dug into the batters box next, but he struck out.  Cherry Hill
took care of Yardley with no trouble in the bottom of the 12th.  
 
Grant Balfour(6-3) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Kevin
Slowey(5-7) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He gave up 2 runs and 2 hits
in 2 innings.

Designated hitter Ryan Doumit blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the
indomitable Minnesota SnowBirds defeated the league door-mat Pinehurst
PinOaks 7 to 5 at Camden Yards.
 
Doumit had a big day at the plate.  He blasted a solo shot in the 2nd inning,
ripped a solo home run (his 20th of the season) in the 6th inning and hit a
single which scored a run in the 7th inning.  Despite losing, Pinehurst
out-hit Minnesota 12 to 9.  
 
The victory was credited to Jered Weaver*(14-8) who went 6 innings, allowing 4
runs. Jose Arredondo got the save, his 6th.  The loss was charged to John
Lackey(7-13).  
 
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Weaver* said.

Ubaldo Jimenez racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and Stephen Drew
hit 2 doubles and had 5 RBI as the Colorado Scrub NL 2 were badly beaten by
the blistering-hot Philadelphia Phranks, 21 to 4.
 
Drew provided much of the offense.  He doubled in the 3rd inning, lined a
single scoring two baserunners in the 4th inning and doubled plating two runs
in the 7th inning.  Philadelphia kept the scorekeepers busy in the 5th inning
with 4 runs on 4 hits, the 7th inning when they had 9 runs on 7 hits and the
9th inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits.  Overall Philadelphia out-hit
Colorado 20 to 9.  
 
Jimenez(18-8) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. Kyle Davies(3-5)
absorbed the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 7 hits and 3 walks in 4
and 2/3 innings.  
 
'He was really impressive today,' Davies said of his counterpart.  'Our guys
were just swinging at air.'

Russell Martin slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and John Danks went the
distance at Nationals Park as the Wall St Millionaires beat the woeful
Washington Scrub NL 1 by the count of 11 to 3.
 
Martin had a big day with his bat.  He banged out a single in the 2nd inning,
clubbed a three-run home run in the 5th inning and bombed a two-run dinger
(his 16th of the season) in the 6th inning.  Wall St rapped out 13 hits for
the afternoon.  
 
The winning pitcher was Danks(18-4) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Edwin
Jackson(8-13) was the losing pitcher.  He was unable to control the Wall St
offense and allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.  
 
'Martin led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,' Danks
said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'

In a good matchup it was the Sea Isle Seagulls 5, the Sunshine State Stalkers
3 at Dolphins Stadium.
 
Sea Isle had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning as they scored 4
runs on 5 base hits.  The big moment was provided by Conor Jackson who
deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he lofted a three-run
'big-fly' (his 3rd of the season).  Sunshine State was out-hit by Sea Isle,
11 hits to 8.  
 
The victory went to Ryan Dempster(11-9) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Dempster got help from Billy Wagner who was credited with his 8th save.
Kevin Gregg(1-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 hit and 1
walk without retiring a batter.

Orlando Hudson blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI at Shea Stadium as the
Binghamton Brawlers staged a comeback win over the Atlanta Prohibitioners by
the count of 10 to 9.
 
Binghamton erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
using 2 hits.  Jeff Kent kicked off the action when he laced a base-knock.
Clint Barmes was next and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his
1st of the season) giving Binghamton the victory and sending the 26,669
home-town fans home happy.  It was roller coaster of a game as the lead
change hands 5 times.  
 
Chad Qualls(3-2) allowed 3 runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Chad
Gaudin(3-1) was charged with the loss in relief.

It was a laugher out at Comerica Park.  The Detroit 40's squad ripped Toronto
pitching for a total of 13 runs.  Zack Greinke(14-9)with help from the
bullpen held Toronto to 1 run.
 
The Detroit fans enjoyed the offense provided by Bengie Molina.  He brought
the hometown folks to their feet with a Grand Slammer (his 17th of the
season) in the 3rd inning and doubled plating a run in the 7th inning.
Overall Detroit out-hit Toronto 11 to 4.  
 
The losing pitcher was Andy Sonnanstine(9-16).  He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 7 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
