First baseman Mark Teixeira slammed 2 homeruns and scored 3 times and Ryan
Rowland-Smith pitched 3 strong innings at Yankee Stadium where the Yardley
Oaks beat the Sunshine State Stalkers by the score of 9 to 5.
 
Teixeira had a good day at the plate.  He ripped a solo home run in the 2nd
inning and delivered a solo blast (his 37th of the season) in the 6th inning.
Yardley had 8 hits for the afternoon.  
 
The victory went to Rowland-Smith(1-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs.
Kevin Gregg(1-4) suffered the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 hits and no walks
without retiring a batter.

Melvin Mora had 2 base hits and Gil Meche reeled off a total of 11 strikeouts
as the Detroit 40's won at Comerica Park in dramatic fashion over the Sea
Isle Seagulls, the final score, 3 to 2.
 
Detroit won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Dustin
Pedroia hit a bases-empty home run (his 22nd of the season) giving Detroit
the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.  Although they lost,
Sea Isle did out-hit Detroit 10 to 7.  
 
Meche(12-14) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Cory
Wade(4-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  Meche was pleased with his
performance.  He noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches.  Just as important, my
location was right on.  The fans really got into the game too - that always
helps me.  Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.'

Nick Markakis cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the indomitable Minnesota
SnowBirds outscored the Wall St Millionaires 7 to 4.
 
In the bottom of the 5th inning Minnesota scored 4 runs with the help of 5
hits.  The big moment was provided by Markakis who made the crowd come alive
when he smashed a two-run homer (his 17th of the season).  Minnesota had 15
hits for the night while Wall St had 10.  
 
The win went to Cliff Lee(18-7) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Mariano
Rivera got the save, his 35th.  Todd Wellemeyer(13-13) was the loser.  He
allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 11 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3
innings.

In a close game the streaking Philadelphia Phranks got by the Cherry Hill
Maulers by the score of 4 to 2.
 
Josh Johnson(6-3) earned his pay with a solid performance for Philadelphia.
He went 8 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 walks.  Chad Billingsley pitched a
perfect ninth and was credited with his 2nd save.

Tim Hudson had a strong outing as the amazing Atlanta Prohibitioners defeated
the Boston Stranglers by a score of 1 to 0 at Turner Field.
 
Atlanta scored what proved to be the only run of the contest in the 4th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Matt Holliday laced a base-hit.  After
another out, Brian McCann stepped up to the plate and he doubled.  Boston had
a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
Hudson(10-5) got the win allowing no runs in 8 innings. Brian Fuentes was
credited with his 38th save.  Jon Lester(11-11) was hit with the loss.

In a close game the Binghamton Brawlers got by the hapless Pinehurst PinOaks
by the score of 6 to 4.
 
John Lannan(16-9) was solid if not spectacular.  He surrendered 4 hits and 4
walks in 5 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 2 homeruns.  Binghamton finished
with 8 hits while Pinehurst ended up with 5.  
 
Chad Qualls recorded the save, his 20th.  John Lackey(7-14) was given the
loss.  He was touched for 7 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
