Scott Feldman went 9 strong innings and Johnny Damon hit a homerun and had 4
RBI as the Minnesota SnowBirds defeated the Boston Stranglers 6 to 0 at
Fenway Park.
 
Damon provided the offensive punch.  He slapped a one-base hit scoring a run
in the 1st inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 2nd inning and
smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 7th inning.  Minnesota banged out
9 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Feldman(1-0) was credited with the shutout. Matt Garza(0-1) was the loser.  He
surrendered 9 hits and 6 walks in 8 innings.  'Feldman took our guys to
school' Terry Francona said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch for us - it would make
my job a whole lot easier!'

Neftali Feliz pitched 4 and one third strong innings as the Philadelphia
Phranks defeated the Sunshine State Stalkers by the score of 12 to 7 at Land
Shark Stadium.
 
Feliz(1-0) came through for Charlie Manual with an excellent relief stint.  He
didn't allow much, just 1 hit and no walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
Philadelphia finished with 13 hits while Sunshine State ended up with 8.
 
The loss was charged to Francisco Rodriguez(2-1) in relief.  He allowed 2 runs
and 1 hit without retiring a batter.

Ian Stewart left the yard and had 3 RBI at Great American Bpk as the
Cincinnati Scrub NL 2 beat the Binghamton Brawlers by the count of 6 to
5.
 
Cincinnati scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Stewart got things rolling
when he cracked a solo homerun.  Mark Ellis followed and he hit a bases-empty
home run.  David Murphy got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim.
Binghamton threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati was able to put down the
rally.  
 
D.J. Carrasco(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 4 innings.
Guillermo Mota(0-2) suffered the loss in relief.  Despite losing Jerry Manuel
was optimistic after the game.  'We'll get over this one.  Sometimes the
breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't.  Any one of a dozen little things
go different, and we come out on top.'

Phil Hughes(2-0) earned his pay with a solid performance for Yardley.  He went
7 and 1/3 innings surrendering 7 hits and no walks lowering his ERA from 5.40
to 4.50.  Yardley had 7 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Joe Nathan earned the save, his 4th.  Dan Haren(1-1) was hit with the loss.
Despite taking the loss, he whiffed 12 batters in 8 and 1/3 innings.

Chase Utley blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Sea Isle Seagulls defeated
the Wall St Millionaires by a score of 5 to 3 at Wrigley Field.
 
Utley was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense.  He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 1st inning and
ripped a solo home run in the 3rd inning.  Both teams finished the game with
10 hits.  
 
The win went to Josh Johnson(1-1) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings. Jonathan
Broxton recorded the save, his 2nd.  John Danks(1-1) was given the loss.
Although losing the contest, he whiffed 11 batters in 8 and 1/3 innings.

Baltimore started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first as they showed no mercy on Cherry Hill blasting them for 5 hits and
plating 7 runs.  That was all the runs Cook(1-0) needed.  Baltimore had a
total of 12 hits for the game.  
 
Kevin Millwood(0-2) was tagged with the loss.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning and
surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk.

The Pinehurst PinOaks defeated the Oakland Scrub AL 2 by a score of 4 to 1 at
Rogers Centre.
 
Pinehurst took the lead off Jeremy Sowers in the first inning when they scored
3 runs on 4 hits.  That early scoring was all that Dallas Braden(1-0) needed.
For the game Pinehurst out-hit Oakland 8 to 3.  
 
Braden got relief help from Mariano Rivera who gained credit for his 1st save.
Sowers(0-2) took the loss.  He allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3
innings.

Chad Billingsley(1-1), with relief help from Pedro Feliciano, shut down the
Washington Scrub NL 1 hitters at Turner Field.  The Atlanta Prohibitioners
came away with a 6 to 0 victory.
 
Atlanta jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they tallied 2
runs on 3 hits.  That early run support was enough for Billingsley and
Atlanta.  Atlanta ended up with 13 hits for the game while Washington had 2.
 
Feliciano got the save, his 1st.  Nick Blackburn(1-2) was the losing pitcher.
He gave up 3 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings.
