Mark Teixeira touched them all and had 2 RBI as the Yardley Oaks defeated the
Binghamton Brawlers by a score of 6 to 1 at Yankee Stadium.
 
The game started off with Yardley taking the lead in the first plating an
isolated run utilizing 2 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Denard Span
laced a base-knock.  Michael Cuddyer came next and he slapped a single, and
an error was also committed.  Alex Rodriguez then drew a walk.  Robinson Cano
followed and he grounded into a double play.  Yardley finished with 9 hits
while Binghamton ended up with 6.  
 
Felix Hernandez(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 8 and 2/3
innings. John Lannan(0-1) was given the loss.  He served up 3 homeruns in his
5 and 2/3 innings.

defeated the Pinehurst PinOaks 6 to 3 at Rogers Centre.
 
Fielder enjoyed a fine evening at the plate.  He popped a two-run clout over
the fence in the 4th inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 5th inning.
Philadelphia had a total of 8 hits for the game.  
 
The win went to Jair Jurrjens(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Trevor Hoffman got the save, his 2nd.  John Lackey(0-1) was tagged with the
loss.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 9 innings of work.

The Detroit 40's easily topped the Wall St Millionaires; the final score was
10 to 4.
 
Michael Young helped send the fans home happy.  He delivered a solo blast in
the 2nd inning, delivered a single in the 6th inning and doubled bringing in
two baserunners in the 8th inning.  Detroit had 11 hits for the game and Wall
St had 7.  
 
Jonathan Papelbon(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 2/3 innings
and allowing no runs. The loss was charged to John Danks(0-1).  He served up
4 homeruns in his 7 and 1/3 innings.

Jason Kubel blasted 2 homeruns and Matt Garza allowed Terry Francona to rest
his bullpen, tossing a complete game at Fenway Park as the Boston Stranglers
beat the Sunshine State Stalkers by the count of 9 to 2.
 
Kubel had a great evening at the plate.  He cleared the bases with a Grand
Slam homerun in the 1st inning, lined a base-hit in the 2nd inning and ripped
a solo home run in the 4th inning.  The pitchers took over after the 4th
inning as neither team was able to score again.  
 
Garza(1-0) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Joel Pineiro(0-1)
was the loser.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing 3 hits and 1
walk.
 
'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Kubel said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'

Josh Beckett was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the Minnesota SnowBirds defeated the Atlanta Prohibitioners
by the score of 9 to 2 at Turner Field.
 
Brian Roberts had a big day against Atlanta.  He caught a hold of a bad pitch
for a Grand Slam homerun in the 2nd inning and ripped a base-knock which was
good for two runs in the 6th inning.  Minnesota managed 8 hits in their
victory.  
 
Beckett(1-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Randy
Wolf(0-1) absorbed the loss.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings giving up 1 hit
and 5 walks.

Ryan Dempster(1-0) and C.C. Sabathia(0-1) treated the Cherry Hill fans to a
fine pitching duel at US Cellular Field.  The Sea Isle Seagulls eventually
emerged as victors over the Cherry Hill Maulers by the score of 2 to
1.
 
Dempster gave a fine effort for Sea Isle.  He went 6 and 2/3 innings
surrendering 4 hits and no walks.  Cherry Hill threatened in the 9th but
their rally came up short.  
 
Dempster got help from Jonathan Broxton who was credited with his 1st save.
