WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Ryan Sweeney robbed Jim Thome of an extra base hit.

Hiroki Kuroda had a strong outing as the Sunshine State Stalkers beat the
Washington Scrub NL 1 by a score of 3 to 2.

Sunshine State had the winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs using 3
hits. Omar Infante opened up the inning nicely when he lined a one-base hit.
Cabrera was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Asdrubal Cabrera
then reached on an error. Sunshine State continued their aggressive style
with another stolen base. Russell Martin came to the plate and lined a
single. Freddy Sanchez continued the rally and delivered a single. Ryan
Sweeney dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Mike Cameron got
his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Adam Dunn was
the next batter, but he struck out. Washington made it exciting in the 9th,
but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

The winning pitcher was Kuroda(2-0) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Joakim
Soria was credited with his 7th save. Juan Gutierrez(3-1) was hit with the
loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned
run in his 2 innings of work.

This win by Sunshine State continues their recent hot streak. In their last
ten games, they have a record of 9-1. For the season, they are a division
leading 13-2. Manny Acta was unhappy with his club's recent performance.
'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a
while.'

WEB GEMS- Top 1st: Chris Young robbed Billy Butler of a Homerun!

Zack Greinke mowed down 14 Baltimore batters and designated hitter Aramis
Ramirez blasted 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Detroit 40's defeated the
floundering Baltimore Scrub AL 1 by the score of 8 to 2 at Camden
Yards.

Ramirez was unconscious all day. The Baltimore fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He smashed
a solo-shot out of the park in the 1st inning, blasted a two-run home run in
the 3rd inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 9th inning.
Offensively, Detroit was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

The win was credited to Greinke(2-1) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
Scott Kazmir(1-2) was charged with the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in
5 and 1/3 innings.

When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Kazmir was lavish in his
praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long
night. Greinke brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was
able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the
entire game!

Dallas Braden was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the Pinehurst PinOaks defeated the Minnesota SnowBirds 6 to
1 at Metrodome.

Pinehurst had 3 runs cross the plate in the 2nd inning when they had 3 base
hits. Aaron Hill led off and he doubled. Paul Konerko came to the plate and
delivered a base-hit. Konerko then stole second base. Juan Rivera was up
next and he would ground out. Derek Jeter stepped into the box and drew a
walk. Pinehurst continued their aggressive style with another stolen base.
A.J. Pierzynski was next and he laced a single. Endy Chavez then hit a deep
fly. Scott Feldman then threw a high and inside pitch that got by the
catcher; it was ruled a passed ball. The early run support proved sufficient
for Braden(2-0) and Pinehurst. That was all the run support Braden required.
Pinehurst totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.

Feldman(1-1) took the loss. He pitched 5 innings giving up 4 hits and 3 walks.

Carlos Zambrano reeled off a total of 12 strikeouts at Coors Field where the
Binghamton Brawlers beat the Wall St Millionaires 10 to 3.

It was a good day for Binghamton thanks to Chipper Jones. He doubled bringing
in a run in the 2nd inning, laced a base-knock in the 7th inning and cracked
a two-run shot in the 7th inning. Binghamton had a total of 9 hits for the
game.

The winning pitcher was Zambrano(2-0) who allowed 3 runs for the game. John
Danks(1-2) was the loser. Zambrano was pleased with his performance. He
noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches. Just as important, my location was
right on. The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me.
Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.'
