Shin-Soo Choo smacked 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI as the Cherry Hill Maulers
destroyed the struggling Baltimore Scrub AL 1 by a score of 16 to 2 at Camden
Yards.
Choo really lit it up for Cherry Hill. The Baltimore fans let him have it for
what he did to their boys. He smacked a three-run homer in the 1st inning,
lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 2nd inning, smacked
a single in the 4th inning and ripped a base-knock scoring a run in the 9th
inning. Cherry Hill bats were very productive in the 2nd inning with 5 runs
on 4 hits and the 9th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 5 hits. Cherry
Hill finished with 19 hits while Baltimore ended up with 6.
Jake Peavy(2-1) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Tommy
Hunter(0-1) suffered the loss. He surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks in 1 and
1/3 innings.
Cherry Hill continued their winning ways, with their streak now at 6 games and
counting.

A.J. Pierzynski had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Johan Santana allowed 3 hits
while blanking Oakland as the Pinehurst PinOaks topped the Oakland Scrub AL 2
by a score of 7 to 0 at McAfee Coliseum.
Santana(3-0) simply dominated Oakland. He surrendered only 3 hits and 3 walks
in 9 innings. Santana racked up 10 strikeouts seeing his ERA drop from 2.50
to 1.67. Pinehurst had 12 hits for the afternoon.
Zach Duke(2-2) took the loss. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and surrendered 5
hits and 2 walks. Bob Geren was obviously impressed with the pitching of
Santana, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there this afternoon. We
just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for him. I just
hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'

WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Hank Blalock robbed Yunel Escobar of a base hit.
Left fielder David Murphy jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI at
Coors Field where the Cincinnati Scrub NL 2 beat the Binghamton Brawlers by
the score of 7 to 2.
Cincinnati took the lead off John Maine in the first inning with 3 runs using
3 hits. Will Venable kicked off the action when he laced a base-hit. Kosuke
Fukudome was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. One out later, Ian
Stewart came up and he slapped a single. Maine then let loose a wild pitch.
Mark Ellis stepped into the box and was walked intentionally to load the
bases. Murphy added his contribution to the rally and drew a walk. Fernando
Tatis followed and he doubled. That scoring would be all that was needed.
Cincinnati totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.
Jason Hammel(1-1) went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory.
Hammel was helped out by D.J. Carrasco who recorded his 1st save. Maine(1-2)
absorbed the loss. He surrendered 7 runs and 8 hits in 7 and 1/3 innings.
'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Clint Hurdle. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together
and turn things around!'

Robinson Tejeda racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts at Metrodome as
the Minnesota SnowBirds beat the Boston Stranglers 4 to 3.
Tejeda(2-2) was very good in the win. He didn't allow much, just 4 hits and 2
walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA from 4.85 to 4.29. Tejeda was helped out
by Andrew Bailey who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 1st save.
The loss was charged to Jarrod Washburn(1-2). Ron Gardenhire was asked about
the performance of Tejeda, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon.
The fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that
seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
