At Fenway Park the Minnesota SnowBirds tallied 5 runs in the 1st inning and
easily handled the Boston Stranglers by the score of 8 to 4.
 
Minnesota wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
scored 5 runs on 5 hits.  That scoring would be all that was needed.  Overall
Minnesota out-hit Boston 12 to 9.  
 
Jorge De La Rosa(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and
allowing 1 run. Mark Buehrle(1-2) took the loss.  He surrendered 5 runs and 5
hits in 1/3 of an inning.

Shane Victorino touched them all and had 3 RBI and Javier Vazquez allowed 1
hit while blanking Sunshine State at Land Shark Stadium as the Atlanta
Prohibitioners beat the Sunshine State Stalkers by the count of 9 to
0.
 
Vazquez(2-1) was tremendous on the mound for Atlanta.  He surrendered only 1
hit and 5 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.71 to 3.30.  Atlanta
had a total of 11 hits for the game.  
 
The loss was charged to Johnny Cueto(2-1).  He gave up 2 runs and 4 hits in 5
and 2/3 innings.

Designated hitter Prince Fielder had 5 hits and 2 RBI as the Philadelphia
Phranks smashed the overmatched Washington Scrub NL 1, 18 to 1.
 
Fielder had a big day with his bat.  He doubled in the 2nd inning, smashed a
solo-shot out of the park in the 3rd inning, lined a base-hit in the 5th
inning, slapped a single in the 8th inning and doubled plating a run in the
9th inning.  Philadelphia bats were hot in the 3rd inning with 5 runs on 5
hits, the 6th inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits and the 9th inning
scoring 4 runs.  Philadelphia dominated offensively as they scored in 6
different innings.  
 
The winning pitcher was Joe Blanton(1-3) who allowed 1 run in 6 and 2/3
innings. Jon Garland(0-2) was hit with the loss.  He gave up 6 runs in 2
innings of work.

Ryan Dempster whitewashed Binghamton on 3 hits as the Sea Isle Seagulls pulled
out a win over the Binghamton Brawlers by a score of 2 to 0 at PNC Park.
 
Sea Isle won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs on 2 hits.  After two outs Josh Willingham started the rally when he
lashed a single.  Carlos Gonzalez stepped into the batter's box and he bombed
a two-run dinger making Sea Isle the winners and sending the 20,693 fans home
happy.  Sea Isle and Binghamton each finished the afternoon with 3 hits.
 
Dempster(2-0) was credited with the shutout. Adam Wainwright(1-2) absorbed the
loss.  Despite taking the loss, he whiffed 19 batters in 8 and 2/3 innings.
 
'I thought it was my best performance in a long time,' said Dempster. 'I had
good command early in the game. I had my control and composure and everything
went well.'

Billy Butler cracked a homer and had 2 RBI and Erik Bedard completed the game
without help from the bullpen as the Detroit 40's topped the Yardley Oaks by
a score of 7 to 1 at Comerica Park.
 
Detroit jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring 3 runners on
0 hits.  That was all the offense they were to need.  Detroit managed only 5
hits on the afternoon.  
 
The win went to Bedard(2-1) who allowed 1 run in the game. The losing pitcher
was A.J. Burnett(0-2).  Detroit scored big getting 6 runs off him in 5 and
1/3 innings.  
 
This win by Detroit continues their recent hot streak.  In their last ten
games, they have a record of 9-1.  For the season, they are a division
leading 15-4.  With the loss, Yardley has a record of 4-6 lately, 9-10
overall.

The streaking Cherry Hill Maulers cruised to a 8 to 2 victory over the
floundering Baltimore Scrub AL 1 at US Cellular Field.
 
Baltimore was unable to claim the lead after Cherry Hill went ahead in the
bottom of the 3rd inning as they scored 3 runs on 4 base hits.  That was all
Roy Halladay(1-2) needed.  Cherry Hill had 16 hits for the game and Baltimore
had 8.  
 
Halladay got relief help from Fu-Te Ni who gained credit for his 1st save.
The loss was charged to Derek Lowe(1-4).  Cherry Hill continued on their
recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 7 games and counting.
'Everything seems to be going right for us' said Ozzie Guillen.  'I've got
the easiest job in the league right now!'

Brett Anderson held Oakland to 3 hits at Rogers Centre as the Pinehurst
PinOaks beat the Oakland Scrub AL 2 8 to 1.
 
David Ortiz made sure the Pinehurst fans enjoyed themselves.  He blasted a
two-run home run in the 1st inning, doubled in the 5th inning and delivered a
base-hit plating two runs in the 8th inning.  Pinehurst managed 17 hits in
their victory.  
 
Anderson(1-1) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Vicente
Padilla(1-2) was hit with the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 17 hits
and 3 walks in 8 innings.  
 
The winning ways continue for Pinehurst.  They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days.  Oakland has a record of 5-14, worst in the division after the
loss.

Bengie Molina hit a homerun at Great American Bpk as the Wall St Millionaires
won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Cincinnati Scrub NL 2 by the
count of 6 to 4.
 
Wall St had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs using 4 hits.
Pablo Sandoval led off and he hit a single.  Hunter Pence stepped up to the
plate and he slapped a single, and an error was also committed.  Molina then
laced a one-base hit.  Two outs later Rafael Furcal came to the plate and
doubled.  Albert Pujols stepped into the box and was walked intentionally.
For the game Wall St out-hit Cincinnati 12 to 9.  
 
Tyler Clippard(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Brian
Wilson gained credit for his 2nd save.  Fernando Rodney(0-3) was given the
loss in relief.  He was unable to control the Wall St offense and allowed 5
hits and 2 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.  
 
Lou Piniella was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence.  Weird. but GREAT!'
