Left fielder Matt Diaz cracked a homer and had 3 RBI as the Atlanta
Prohibitioners defeated the Philadelphia Phranks by a score of 11 to 2 at
Citizen's Bank Park.
 
Atlanta took the lead for good in the top of the 4th inning scoring one runner
using 2 hits.  Atlanta simply wore out the Philadelphia pitching staff,
scoring in 6 different innings.  
 
The win went to Randy Wolf(3-3) who allowed 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Wandy
Rodriguez(3-1) was tagged with the loss.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.

Comerica Park.
 
Jered Weaver*(4-0) gave Detroit a solid outing.  He was reached for 3 hits and
3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.  Weaver* mowed down 9 Cherry Hill batters and
gave up 2 homeruns.  Detroit totaled 7 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Weaver* got relief help from Jonathan Papelbon who gained credit for his 12th
save.  Jake Peavy(3-2) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 6 runs and 7 hits
in 7 and 1/3 innings.

22,960 fans were treated to a fine game at Wrigley Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Wall St Millionaires won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
 
Wall St jumped on top to stay in the 3rd inning scoring a single run on 2
hits.  Sea Isle threatened in the 9th but Wall St was able to put down the
rally.  
 
The winning pitcher was Ted Lilly(1-2) who allowed 2 runs in 5 innings. Lilly
was helped out by Brian Wilson who recorded his 6th save.  Barry Zito(3-1)
was the loser.  He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.

Justin Verlander whiffed 11 batters at Yankee Stadium as the Yardley Oaks beat
the struggling Baltimore Scrub AL 1 by the count of 10 to 5.
 
Verlander(2-1) pitched well for Yardley in their victory.  He was reached for
9 hits and 1 walk in 7 and 1/3 innings and served up 2 'big flies'.  Yardley
and Baltimore each finished the afternoon with 9 hits.  
 
Scott Kazmir(1-4) took the loss.  He was unable to control the Yardley offense
and allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.  
 
'Everything felt great' Verlander said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody today.'

Robinson Tejeda struck out 12 batters and Nelson Cruz rocketed 2 homeruns and
had 5 RBI at Metrodome where the Minnesota SnowBirds beat the Oakland Scrub
AL 2 9 to 3.
 
Cruz had a big day at the plate.  He stroked a one-base hit in the 1st inning,
cracked a two-run shot in the 5th inning, singled in the 7th inning and
clubbed a three-run home run in the 8th inning.  For the game Minnesota
out-hit Oakland 10 to 6.  
 
Tejeda(4-2) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Andrew Bailey
recorded his 4th save.  Homer Bailey(0-5) ended up with the loss.  He served
up 3 homeruns in his 5 and 2/3 innings.  
 
Ron Gardenhire was asked about the performance of Tejeda, 'He had his good
stuff out there this afternoon.  The fans really get into it when the
strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'

The Sunshine State Stalkers edged the Washington Scrub NL 1 at Land Shark
Stadium by the score of 5 to 4.
 
Sunshine State tallied 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning.  The key at-bat
was by Mike Cameron who electrified Land Shark Stadium when he lifted one out
of the park for a two run home run.  Ricky Nolasco(1-2) got help from Joakim
Soria who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 12th save.  
 
The losing pitcher was Brandon League(0-1) in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3
innings giving up 3 hits and no walks.

John Maine(3-2) earned his pay with a solid performance for Binghamton.  He
allowed 9 hits and 1 walk in 7 and 1/3 innings.  Binghamton had 15 hits for
the afternoon while Cincinnati had 10.  
 
Doug Davis(1-6) was charged with the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing
10 hits and 6 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
