Sea Isle scored 4 runs in the decisive 5th inning with the help of 3 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Colvin who helped quiet the crowd when he launched a three-run homer. Both teams totaled 10 hits on the afternoon. Mike Pelfrey(7-6) got the win allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. The loss was charged to Fausto Carmona(9-7). He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. The score was knotted at 8 after nine innings. Detroit came out on top in the 12th inning. After two outs Curtis Granderson smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' giving Detroit the victory and sending the 35,746 home-town fans home happy. Detroit and Baltimore each finished the afternoon with 15 hits. The win was credited to Evan Meek(2-3) who went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs. Jason Berken(4-5) absorbed the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 4 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. Liriano(5-5) was simply too much for the Washington batters. He gave up just 4 hits and no walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 4.40 to 4.00. Boston managed 10 hits in their victory. Mark Buehrle(6-11) was the losing pitcher. He served up 4 homeruns in his 5 innings. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Buehrle was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Liriano brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game! Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings. Wall St was victorious in the 10th inning. After two outs Ian Desmond laced a base-knock, and an error was also committed. Jose Tabata followed and he ripped a one-base hit making Wall St the winners and sending the 38,427 fans home happy. Oakland was out-hit by Wall St, 16 hits to 7. The victory was credited to Chris Perez(3-4) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs. Bobby Jenks(3-3) suffered the loss in relief. Sunshine State never recovered after Colorado took the lead in the 7th inning plating one baserunner. Sunshine State had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The winning pitcher was Oswalt(14-2) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Hiroki Kuroda(9-7) took the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 9 innings of work. 'It was a tough one to lose' said Edwin Rodriguez 'We'll get them next time out.'

Both teams had scored 7 runs after nine full innings. Yardley came out the victor in the 10th inning. The crucial at-bat was provided by Michael Cuddyer who came through for the home fans when he ripped a base-hit bringing in two baserunners. The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 7 times. The win went to Matt Thornton(3-3) who allowed 1 run in 2/3 of an inning. Burke Badenhop(0-4) was charged with the loss in relief. Wth the win Yardley now has a record of 47-45. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, Cincinnati is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of 27-66. Philadelphia tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning when they had 4 base hits. They would be enough to earn the win. For the game Philadelphia out-hit Toronto 9 to 3. Wandy Rodriguez(12-2) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Billy Wagner earned his 23rd save. Johan Santana(9-7) absorbed the loss. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 7 hits and 3 walks. Zack Greinke(8-8) pitched well for Cherry Hill in their victory. He allowed 8 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings. Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning. Joakim Soria got the save, his 25th. Ted Lilly(8-7) was the losing pitcher. With the win, Cherry Hill continues their noteworthy winning streak.
