Sunshine State came up with 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning when they had 3 base hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Sanchez(11-6) and Sunshine State. That was all the run support Sanchez required. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again. Heath Bell was credited with his 29th save. Cliff Lee(13-2) suffered the loss. He surrendered just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Adam Wainwright(10-7) pitched a solid game. He went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits and no walks. Colorado had 13 hits overall, while Washington had 8. Jonathon Niese(6-10) was the losing pitcher. Colorado knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Kershaw(15-3) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the Baltimore batters. He allowed only 4 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Sea Isle had 12 hits for the afternoon. Joe Saunders(2-16) took the loss. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Kershaw - except Baltimore. Buck Showalter lamented, 'He just was 'on' this afternoon. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!' Yardley came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 2 base hits. Pennington led off and keyed the rally when he ripped a base-hit. Pedro Alvarez came to the plate and smashed a two-run homer making Yardley victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Both teams finished the game with 9 hits. The victory was credited to Matt Thornton(5-3) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Kyle McClellan(1-5) in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 2 hits in 1/3 of an inning. Cincinnati took the lead for good in the top of the 2nd inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. Cincinnati finished with 17 hits in the victory. Jackson(5-15) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Anibal Sanchez(9-8) absorbed the loss. He allowed 13 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.

Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Oakland ended up winning it in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Josh Thole ripped a one-base hit. Pie stole second with some aggressive base running. After another out, Chone Figgins stepped up to the plate and he laced a base-knock giving Oakland the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Oakland had 12 hits for the night while Toronto had 8. The win was credited to Guillermo Mota(2-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs. Mariano Rivera(2-3) was the loser in relief. He gave up 2 hits and no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings. Philadelphia set the tone of the game in the first inning plating one baserunner. Philadelphia had a total of 7 hits for the game. Hanson(11-5) allowed 1 run on the game. The loss was charged to Jered Weaver(13-6). He surrended 3 homeruns in his 6 and 1/3 innings. After an out was recorded, Alex Rodriguez came up and he cleared the fences for a two-run home run giving Cherry Hill the victory and sending the 40,063 home-town fans home happy. Both teams ended up with 8 hits on the night. Halladay(15-8), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Trevor Cahill(10-7) was tagged with the loss.
