Upton blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Johan Santana was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the Toronto Argonauts beat the pitiful Oakland Roughriders by a score of 7 to 1. Upton provided the offensive punch. He blasted a two-run home run in the 7th inning and ripped a solo home run in the 9th inning. Toronto had 10 hits for the night. Santana(8-5) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Jason Hammel(4-11) absorbed the loss. He pitched 5 innings allowing 6 hits and 1 walk. Sunshine State came up with 4 runs in the 5th inning with the help of 3 hits. They would hold up as the winning runs. Jonathan Sanchez(9-5) got help from Heath Bell who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 24th save. Mat Latos(9-5) suffered the loss. He allowed Sunshine State 6 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings of work. Reyes provided much of the offense. He tripled which was good for two runs in the 2nd inning, lined a base-hit in the 4th inning and doubled bringing home two baserunners in the 5th inning. Colorado simply wore out the Cincinnati pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings. The win went to Roy Oswalt(12-2) who allowed 1 run in 8 innings. Mitch Talbot(4-11) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 9 hits and 6 walks in 5 innings. Detroit had 2 runs cross the plate in the 3rd inning. That early run support was all that Jered Weaver(10-5) required. Neither team managed to score after the 3rd inning. Daniel Bard recorded the save, his 12th. Cliff Lee(11-1) was given the loss. He allowed 2 runs and 9 hits in 8 innings. 'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Weaver, 'I was just giving us a chance to win.' Pujols had a big day at the plate. He doubled scoring two baserunners in the 6th inning, doubled in the 7th inning and launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 8th inning. Wall St bats were very productive in the 6th inning which saw them score 6 runs on 7 hits and the 8th inning with 6 runs on 5 hits. Wall St finished with 24 hits in the victory. Braden(11-3) lasted until the end allowing 5 runs for the win. Homer Bailey(2-9) was the loser. He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Cabrera enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st inning, doubled scoring a run in the 2nd inning, ripped a base-knock in the 4th inning and banged out a single in the 6th inning. Baltimore tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th. Clay Buchholz(10-2) allowed no runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. John Lackey(3-12) took the loss. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks. The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified and recorded 9 strikeouts. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again. The victory went to Jaime Garcia(9-4) who went 7 innings, allowing no runs. Ted Lilly(7-5) was given the loss. 'You probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than this happening,' said Garcia who got credit for the win, 'I don't expect it to sink in for awhile.' he said. 'You know, it's hard to say who was better, the starter or the bullpen!'
