Baltimore took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 3rd inning plating one baserunner using 2 hits. Adam Rosales ripped a base-knock. Wilson Ramos was next and he laced a base-hit. Casper Wells then grounded into a double play. Baltimore had 17 hits for the night. Saunders(3-17) was the winner allowing 4 runs for the game. Brett Anderson(0-1) was the loser. He allowed Baltimore 8 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings of work. The Cincinnati fans didn't appreciate the big day Weeks had. He rifled a three-run blast in the 3rd inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 8th inning. Colorado had a total of 9 hits for the game. Wainwright(14-7) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Edwin Jackson(5-19) suffered the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. 'Wainwright pitched a gem of a game', Dusty Baker recounted. 'He kept our batters off balance the entire game.' Washington took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning plating 3 runs on 4 hits. Jeff Francoeur led off and keyed the rally when he delivered a one-base hit. Orlando Cabrera came next and he laced a single. Russell Martin then smacked a single. Jonny Gomes was the next batter, but he struck out. Ian Stewart was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Lyle Overbay added to the rally and doubled. Blake Dewitt stepped up to the plate and he was walked intentionally. Washington rapped out 12 hits for the afternoon. Jonathon Niese(7-12) allowed 5 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory. Huston Street got the save, his 12th. David Price(8-9) took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. Wall St went ahead for good in the 7th inning plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. Wall St had only 5 hits for the night. Matt Cain(11-8) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Chris Perez recorded his 18th save. Cliff Lee(15-4) was given the loss. He surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Sunshine State was victorious in the 14th inning. Josh Willingham lined a base-hit, and an error was also committed. Jay Bruce followed, but he was set down on strikes. Pence then lashed a single. Kameron Loe then threw a wild pitch. One out later, Brandon Phillips came to bat and drew a walk. For the game Sunshine State out-hit Oakland 17 to 11. Brian Sanches(4-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Heath Bell gained credit for his 34th save. Loe(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game. The Detroit fans enjoyed the offense provided by Young. He belted a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and laced a base-knock in the 8th inning. Detroit had 15 hits for the night while Boston had 12. Jered Weaver(16-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 2/3 innings and allowing 7 runs. David Purcey earned his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Trevor Cahill(11-10). He gave up 5 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work. Roy Halladay(17-10) gave Cherry Hill a solid outing. He allowed only 6 hits and 1 walk in 8 and 2/3 innings. Cherry Hill and Sea Isle each finished the afternoon with 6 hits. Halladay got help from Joakim Soria who earned his 33rd save. Clayton Kershaw(16-6) was the losing pitcher. Cherry Hill now has a record of a division leading 80-41. With this loss, Sea Isle has a 5-5 record of late, 69-53 overall. Hanson(14-5) pitched a solid game. He surrendered only 5 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. Philadelphia took care of Atlanta with no trouble in the bottom of the 9th. Billy Wagner was credited with his 32nd save. Bronson Arroyo(7-16) ended up with the loss. 'I had my good stuff tonight.' Hanson said. 'As the game went along I started to get the feeling that I was going to strike out a bunch of hitters.'
