The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Konerko lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' giving Toronto the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Toronto out-hit Detroit for the game, 17 hits to 10. Matt Capps(6-4) went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Joel Zumaya(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 4 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. Baltimore scored 5 runs in the decisive 5th inning when they came up with 4 base hits. The critical plate appearance was by Casper Wells who disappointed the partisan crowd when he clubbed a three-run home run. Boston made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. John Lackey(9-21) allowed 6 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Francisco Cordero was credited with his 15th save. Gio Gonzalez(10-13) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. The very potent Colorado Eskimos squad ripped Minnesota pitching for a total of 11 runs. Adam Wainwright(21-8), with relief help from Clay Hensley, surrendered 3 runs to Minnesota. Colorado took the lead off Max Scherzer in the first inning as they scored 3 runs on 4 base hits. The big moment was provided by Adam Dunn who quieted the home crowd when he clubbed a two-run home run. For the game Colorado out-hit Minnesota 13 to 9. Scherzer(11-12) was the loser. He was unable to control the Colorado offense and allowed 10 hits and 6 walks in 7 innings. WALL ST AT SUNSHINE STATE Millionaires.... 0 0 0 0 0 6 0 2 0 - 8 10 0 Stalkers........ 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 0 4 2 Win:Cain(16-10) Loss:Kuroda(16-9) Matt Cain had a strong outing and shortstop Ian Desmond hit 2 doubles and had 4 RBI as the Wall St Millionaires defeated the Sunshine State Stalkers 8 to 0 at Sun Life Stadium. Wall St came up with 6 runs in the top of the 6th inning. The highlight belonged to Carlos Ruiz who disappointed the partisan crowd when he lined a single which was good for two runs. Wall St finished with 10 hits in the victory. It was the 3rd shutout of the year for Cain(16-10). The loss was charged to Hiroki Kuroda(16-9). It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 5 and 2/3 innings of work. 'Cain pitched a gem of a game', Edwin Rodriguez recounted. 'He kept our batters off balance the entire game.'

Price(11-12) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't allow much, just 7 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Yardley had a total of 10 hits for the game. The losing pitcher was Mark Buehrle(9-19). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 5 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Moises Alou was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.' OAKLAND AT ATLANTA Roughriders..... 0 2 0 3 0 0 0 0 3 - 8 13 2 Prohibitioners.. 5 0 3 0 0 2 0 1 - 11 11 0 Win:Arroyo(11-20) Loss:Matsuzaka(4-2) Homeruns- P.Sandoval(9th), R.Ludwick(11th), K.Johnson(22nd), M.Holliday(27th) The Atlanta Prohibitioners bested the hapless Oakland Roughriders by a 11 to 8 score at Turner Field. The Atlanta fans enjoyed the offense provided by Kelly Johnson. He smacked a single in the 1st inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning and laced a base-knock in the 6th inning. Oakland had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The victory was credited to Bronson Arroyo(11-20) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 6 runs. Daisuke Matsuzaka(4-2) suffered the loss. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and surrendered 3 hits and 3 walks. SEA ISLE AT PHILADELPHIA Seagulls........ 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 1 - 3 10 0 Phranks......... 0 0 0 0 1 3 0 2 - 6 11 0 Win:Lincecum(14-9) Loss:Hamels(11-14) Save:Wagner(40th) Homeruns- S.Victorino(17th), C.McGehee(21st), J.Posada(12th) Jorge Posada had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Citizen's Bank Park where the powerful Philadelphia Phranks beat the Sea Isle Seagulls by the score of 6 to 3. Posada provided much of the offense. He doubled in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 5th inning, doubled bringing home two baserunners in the 6th inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 8th inning. Philadelphia had 11 hits for the night. Tim Lincecum(14-9) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Lincecum got help from Billy Wagner who earned his 40th save. The losing pitcher was Cole Hamels(11-14). He struck out 8 batters in 5 and 1/3 innings despite losing the game. 'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate tonight' Posada said after the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with the results!

He had trouble throwing strikes and issued 7 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
