Carl Pavano(13-13) delivered a fine performance for Detroit. He went 8 innings and surrended up 6 hits and 1 walk and allowed 2 gopher balls. Toronto tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th. Daniel Bard recorded the save, his 21st. Brian Duensing(6-5) took the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 11 hits in 9 innings. Chris Volstad(4-19) had a solid outing for Baltimore. He surrendered 6 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. Baltimore had 15 hits overall, while Boston had 9. Francisco Cordero recorded his 14th save. Matt Garza(11-13) absorbed the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings giving up 12 hits and 1 walk. Barry Zito(12-12) gave Colorado a solid outing. He went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 13 hits and 1 walk. Colorado kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings. James McDonald(2-3) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings. The Sunshine State Stalkers won by the slimmest of margins, 2 to 1. The game was won by Sunshine State with a run in the 8th inning. After two were out Martin Prado cracked a solo homerun. Wall St had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Brandon Lyon(3-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and allowing no runs. Jonny Venters got the save, his 5th. The losing pitcher was Tim Hudson(20-10). He surrendered only 2 runs and 5 hits in 8 innings. Hernandez(17-12) put on a good performance. He gave up just 4 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings. Washington was out-hit by Yardley, 10 hits to 5. Jonathon Niese(7-16) was charged with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7 and 1/3 innings. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Hernandez offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy this afternoon - of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'

Davis enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 2nd inning and doubled plating three runs in the 5th inning. Kameron Loe was great in relief and recorded his 2nd save. Chris Narveson(13-12) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Kris Medlen(3-4) was hit with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 7 hits and 4 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. SEA ISLE AT PHILADELPHIA Seagulls........ 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 - 2 8 1 Phranks......... 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 - 1 5 2 Win:Latos(16-11) Loss:Wagner(8-6) Homeruns- A.Gonzalez(1st) Mat Latos struck out 11 batters at Citizen's Bank Park as the Sea Isle Seagulls pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Philadelphia Phranks by the count of 2 to 1. Sea Isle scored the winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Geovany Soto started the attack as he drew a walk. Jason Heyward came to the plate and hit a single. Casey McGehee then doubled. Chase Utley was up next and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Wilson Valdez stepped into the box and stroked a single. Shane Victorino dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. Latos(16-11) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Billy Wagner(8-6) ended up with the loss in relief. 'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Clayton Kershaw said. 'If you just keep trying good things can happen!' Cincinnati claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs on 4 base hits. Ryan Theriot opened up the scoring as he blasted a solo shot. Cameron Maybin stepped into the batter's box and he slapped a one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Carlos Quentin came to bat and smashed a two-run homer. Garrett Jones was up next and he laced a base-knock. One out later, Yuniesky Betancourt was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Overall Cincinnati out-hit Cherry Hill 10 to 7. Jamie Moyer(3-5) got the win allowing 4 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Moyer was helped out by Burke Badenhop who recorded his 5th save. Roy Halladay(22-13) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 5 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of work.
