After an out was recorded, Travis Hafner came up and he drew a walk. Jason Kubel then lofted a three-run bomb. Ryan Ludwick dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Ike Davis came up to bat and doubled. Ryan Doumit got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Oakland had 12 hits for the game and Sea Isle had 9. Paul Maholm(5-20) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Mike Pelfrey(12-11) was the loser. He gave up 8 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. Both teams totaled 7 hits on the afternoon. Dallas Braden(19-5) allowed 4 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Chris Perez preserved the game for Braden, recording his his 25th. That was all the run support Jackson required. Cincinnati finished with 9 hits in the victory. Jackson was helped out by Ramon Ramirez who recorded his 4th save. Justin Verlander(13-12) was charged with the loss. 'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Jackson said.

Ramirez was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 2nd inning, caught a hold of a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun in the 5th inning and laced a single in the 8th inning. Cherry Hill had a total of 18 hits for the game. Greinke(14-11) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Joe Saunders(4-22) suffered the loss. He allowed Cherry Hill 8 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of work. 'Greinke gave us exactly what we needed today.' Ozzie Guillen said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
