PHILADELPHIA AT BOSTON Phranks......... 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 - 2 5 2 Stranglers...... 0 1 0 2 0 1 0 0 - 4 9 0 Win:Liriano(12-8) Loss:Rodriguez(16-7) Save:Wheeler(3rd) Homeruns- S.Drew(14th), W.Betemit(15th) Francisco Liriano mowed down 11 Philadelphia batters at Fenway Park as the Boston Stranglers beat the Philadelphia Phranks by the count of 4 to 2. Liriano(12-8) was solid in the win. He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and 5 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings. For the game Boston out-hit Philadelphia 9 to 5. Liriano got help from Dan Wheeler who was credited with his 3rd save. Wandy Rodriguez(16-7) was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. Bob Geren was asked about the performance of Liriano, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
