In a close game the Colorado Scrub NL2 got by the Binghamton Brawlers by the
score of 6 to 4.
 
Colorado claimed the early lead in the first inning when they scored 3 runs on
4 hits.  Binghamton went down without a fight in the 9th.  
 
Julian Tavarez(7-8) got the win allowing 4 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Tavarez
was helped out by Scott Proctor who recorded his 3rd save.  Brad Penny(6-15)
was the loser.  He allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.  
 
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Tavarez said.

Geoff Jenkins cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Toronto Scrub AL1 topped
the Pinehurst Pin Oaks by a score of 12 to 10 at Rogers Centre.
 
Jenkins was really 'in the zone'.  He belted a three-run homer in the 1st
inning, tripled knocking in a run in the 3rd inning and smashed a solo-shot
out of the park (his 19th of the season) in the 5th inning.  The Pinehurst
batters went down meekly in the 9th.  
 
Nate Robertson(5-18) went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 runs for the win. Brian
Bannister(6-5) was given the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 and 2/3
innings.  
 
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Ozzie Guillen sighed.  'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'

topped the Washington Scrub NL1 by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
 
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Philadelphia came out the
victor in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, David Ortiz blasted a
solo shot (his 37th of the season).  Philadelphia banged out 7 on the
afternoon.  
 
Derek Lowe(13-10) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 9 innings. Lowe got help
from Takashi Saito who was credited with his 32nd save.  Brad Hennessey(5-8)
was given the loss in relief.  He surrendered 2 runs and 3 hits in 2 and 1/3
innings.

Designated hitter Mark Reynolds touched them all and Justin Verlander came
through with a solid 9 innings as the Sunshine State Stalkers defeated the
Wall St Millionaires 4 to 0 at Dolphins Stadium.
 
Wall St never recovered after Sunshine State took the lead in the bottom of
the 3rd inning plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits.  Reynolds
stroked a single.  Franklin Gutierrez followed and he grounded into a double
play.  Adam Dunn then drew a walk.  Dunn got a good lead and stole second.
Jack Wilson came to the plate and banged out a single scoring the run.  That
early run support was enough for Verlander(14-8) and Sunshine State.
Sunshine State totaled 7 on the night.  
 
Tom Gorzelanny(11-10) was the losing pitcher.  'We didn't have a whole lot of
chances tonight,' Dusty Baker said.  'Verlander just was too much for our
guys.'

In a good matchup it was the Yardley Oaks 5, the Cherry Hill Maulers 3 at
Yankee Stadium.
 
Yardley came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning scoring 4 runners on
5 hits.  The key at-bat was by Carlos Guillen who made the crowd come alive
when he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Yardley banged out 11 on the
afternoon.  
 
Brad Lidge(4-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Lidge got help from Francisco Rodriguez who earned his 27th save.  Scott
Baker(9-4) was hit with the loss.

Joe Mauer hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at Metrodome as the Minnesota SnowBirds
beat the Oakland Scrub AL2 4 to 3.
 
Josh Beckett(10-12) had a solid outing for Minnesota.  He allowed 6 hits and 4
walks in 6 innings.  Oakland threatened in the 9th but Minnesota was able to
put down the rally.  
 
Alan Embree recorded his 2nd save.  The losing pitcher was Braden
Looper(3-19).  When questioned about the loss, Ken Macha said, 'The fans got
to see an exciting game out there tonight.  Unfortunately, we couldn't get it
done this time.  Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the
smiles.'

Third baseman Miguel Cabrera had 2 base hits at Comerica Park as the Boston
Stranglers beat the Detroit 40's in 10 innings by the count of 6 to 2.
 
The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Boston won the game in the 10th inning.
The crucial at-bat was provided by Chris Young who quieted the home crowd
when he lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his 14th of the season).
Detroit was out-hit by Boston, 13 hits to 10.  
 
Kevin Gregg(4-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. The losing
pitcher was Casey Janssen(7-5) in relief.  It was a tough loss for him as he
did not allow an earned run in his 3 and 2/3 innings of work.  
 
The winning ways continue for Boston.  They now have a record of 8-2 in recent
days.  With the loss Detroit now has a record of 74-59.

Troy Tulowitzki had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Cole Hamels was able to finish what
he started and was credited with a complete game at Turner Field as the Sea
Isle SeaGulls belted the Atlanta Prohibitioners by the count of 14 to
4.
 
Tulowitzki enjoyed a fine day at the plate.  He lined a one-base hit in the
1st inning, smacked a single scoring a run in the 2nd inning, belted a
three-run homer (his 12th of the season) in the 5th inning and doubled in the
9th inning.  Sea Isle kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they
scored in 6 different innings.  
 
The victory was credited to Hamels(13-9) who went the distance, allowing 4
runs. Brandon Webb(19-5) was charged with the loss.  He was touched for 3
homeruns in his 5 innings of work.  
 
Sea Isle now has a record of a division leading 90-43.  Atlanta has a record
of 66-67 after the loss.
