Tom Gorzelanny(11-10) was the losing pitcher. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances tonight,' Dusty Baker said. 'Verlander just was too much for our guys.' Yardley came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning scoring 4 runners on 5 hits. The key at-bat was by Carlos Guillen who made the crowd come alive when he doubled bringing in two baserunners. Yardley banged out 11 on the afternoon. Brad Lidge(4-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Lidge got help from Francisco Rodriguez who earned his 27th save. Scott Baker(9-4) was hit with the loss. Detroit was out-hit by Boston, 13 hits to 10. Kevin Gregg(4-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. The losing pitcher was Casey Janssen(7-5) in relief. Tulowitzki enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He lined a one-base hit in the 1st inning, smacked a single scoring a run in the 2nd inning, belted a three-run homer (his 12th of the season) in the 5th inning and doubled in the 9th inning. Sea Isle kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings. The victory was credited to Hamels(13-9) who went the distance, allowing 4 runs. Brandon Webb(19-5) was charged with the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 5 innings of work. Sea Isle now has a record of a division leading 90-43. Atlanta has a record of 66-67 after the loss.
