WEB GEMS- Top 7th: Jeremy Hermida robbed Brian Roberts of an extra base hit.

Right fielder Jeremy Hermida went yard and had 2 RBI at PNC Park where the
potent Sea Isle SeaGulls beat the Pinehurst Pin Oaks 4 to 1.

Pinehurst was unable to claim the lead after Sea Isle went ahead in the 2nd
inning with 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Matt
Kemp was the sparkplug when he lined a one-base hit. Hermida stepped up to
the plate and he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 18th of the
season). That was all the offense they were to need. Sea Isle had 9 hits
for the night while Pinehurst had 5.

The win went to Cole Hamels(15-9) who allowed 1 run in 6 innings. Bobby Jenks
earned his 26th save. Brian Bannister(7-7) absorbed the loss. He pitched 8
innings giving up 9 hits and 2 walks.

WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Miguel Montero blocked the plate, saving a run!

Catcher Ramon Hernandez launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Javier Vazquez
allowed Terry Francona to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the
Boston Stranglers man-handled the hopeless Toronto Scrub AL1 - the final
score was 15 to 2.

Hernandez had a good evening at the plate. He hit a bases-empty home run in
the 4th inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 11th of the season) in
the 9th inning. Boston provided plenty of action in the 9th inning when they
had 7 runs on 8 hits. Boston simply wore out the Toronto pitching staff,
scoring in 6 different innings.

Vazquez(14-13) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Kyle
Lohse(8-13) was the loser. He was unable to control the Boston offense and
allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

One run was the difference at RFK STADIUM as the Washington Scrub NL1 defeated
the league door-mat Oakland Scrub AL2 8 to 7.

Washington came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th
inning with 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Aubrey
Huff got things rolling when he smacked a single. Skip Schumaker followed,
but he was set down on strikes. Ryan Church then doubled, and an error was
also committed, driving home two runs. Washington won despite being out-hit
by Oakland 11 hits to 8.

Dustin Moseley(5-5) went 4 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Brad
Hennessey recorded the save, his 18th. Todd Jones(3-6) took the loss in
relief.
