The Minnesota SnowBirds topped the Boston Stranglers by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2. Rafael Perez(2-0) was dominant in relief. He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and 1 walk in 4 innings and racked up 7 strikeouts improving his ERA from 1.80 to 1.00. Boston threatened in the 9th but Minnesota was able to put down the rally. Perez was helped out by Mariano Rivera who recorded his 4th save. Jon Lester(1-2) was the loser. 'You have to give Boston credit, they fought us tough to the end' Ron Gardenhire said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out the victory.' Atlanta came up with 4 runs in the 5th inning when they had 6 base hits. The big moment was provided by Curtis Granderson who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 2nd of the season). Atlanta had a total of 15 hits for the game. The win went to Lowe(2-0) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Randy Wolf(1-1) suffered the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 7 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
